Not sure what you are connecting, but there is normally a safety button on the bottom of the regulator, push it in and the gas will flow,

What caused my kitchen pipe to burst?

I have never heard of this in all my years of appliance repair but I would tend to think that it was a one off hose and nothing more than that.
Well, that's my two cents. :)

The regulator seems to be closing off completely, and not flowing gas (LPG). We have converted cooktop from natural gas to propane per instructions manual -- changed orifice spuds, converted regulator and...

I HATE TO TRY AND EXPLANE THIS FOR FEAR SOME THING MAY GO WRONG DID YOU FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS TO THE LETTER. FROM NATURAL GAS TO LP YOU SHOULD OF HAD TO CHANGE THE POSISTION OF THE ORVICE IN THE REGULATER THAT IS WHY YOU ARN'T GETTING THRU THE REGULATOR CHECK YOUR DIRECTIONS AGAIN SOME TIME YOU HAVE TO THIGHTEN THE NUT ON THE REGULATOR SO IT DISTORTS THE ORFICE TO LP, AND SOME MODELS YOU HAVE TO TURN THE ORFICE OVER. BECAREFUL AND TRY AGAIN

The new propane tank is not sending gas to be ignited even though it is hooked up properly.

Hello.
Troubleshooting a grill isn't difficult. Close the propane outlet valve at the tank. Disconnect the tank, and get it out into the open.. Crack open the valve and make sure that you have a burst of gas pressure. (Careful here, you don't want to have a bad day. Point the opening away from you.). If you are sure that you have a good cylinder/gas and valve, it may be your regulator. Hook it back up and try for gas at each valve. Leave the lid up/open. You should be able to hear it if it is coming through one of your valves. (I should caution call here again.... Open only one valve at a time, check for sound, and close it. Wait two minutes, and try the next valve). You don't want to inadverdantly create a pocket of gas that could flash on you, if it found a source of ignition...let it dissipate, then try the next one, etc..Don't try any one valve for more than 10 seconds. If you are unsure that you heard something, please , follow the two minute rule. Should it be your regulator, replacements are readily available at "home hardware" type stores (Lowe's, H/Depot, etc.) and are easily replaced.
Hope that this was helpful to you.

Grill won't start

The regulator on the gas feed line is not working properly. Take the regulator to a propane supplier and have the regulator checked.

Tappan Range Model TGF351ESJ Nat. Gas to Propane

Yes you can convert the range

2. Provide an adequate gas supply.
This unit is pre-set to operate on 4" natural gas manifold
pressure. Aconvertible pressure regulator is connected to the
manifold and MUST be connected inseries with the gas supply
line. If the LP/Propane conversion kit has been used, follow
instructions provided with the kit for converting the pressure
regulator to LP/Propane use. The LP kit can be found on the
back side of the range (some models).

I yours does not have the kit on back go to sears to get one.

Good Luck
