SOURCE: won't recognize legal size paper

I have a Brother MFC-8840Dn (full legal-size flatbed as well as document feeder). I use Windows XP Pro and a USB connection. I'm not sure my fix works with other Brother models or different Windows operating systems, but it's a way to start troubleshooting at least.

I've always been able to print legal-sized pages from word processing or spreadsheet programs and receive legal-sized faxes. But I never could make legal-sized photocopies or PDF scans. The image was always cut off at Letter size. The fix is a Brother Utility set-up setting:

*** Go to Start / All Programs / Brother / MFL-Pro Suite MFC 8840Dn / Scanner Utility. (This link may also be called something like Scanner Settings.)
*** At the "Maximum Scanning Size", select "Legal" instead of "Letter/A4".
*** Click OK and restart your PC for the new setting to take effect.

It's like magic -- I can now scan a full legal-sized PDF, whether on the flatbed or through the ADF. I also tried a compressed TIFF scan and it came out fine.

**** Make sure your software and/or Brother Control Center scanning configurations are set to Legal if that's what you want for the particular image scan. The Brother Utility setting simply enables the option of choosing the larger legal-sized paper, which then allows the full legal-sized image scan, You always have to set your software to make that choice, just as you would to make and print smaller images on Letter, A4, envelopes, etc. (NOTE: I always start scans through software on my PC, like Adobe Acrobat or PaperPort, and the Utility Setting fix is working fine. However, I just tried pressing the SCAN button on the front panel of the MFC itself with a legal-sized document on the flatbed and through the document feeder. I still got Letter-sized image scans. So, there must be another setting somewhere for starting scans directly from the MFC that I'll locate later.)

I was about to buy a different brand of scanner because of the frustration with legal-sized images. It's like having a new scanner now :) I hope this Utility Setting info helps you troubleshoot your legal-sized image problem.

Roku com link code enter

Maybe I'm dense: Don't you mean Huluplus, Netflix, or some other pay-every-month-in-advance subscription streaming service, instead? If so, you must get online to such sites with a PC/laptop, phone, tablet--maybe a newer gaming console (I'm not certain about the last). Then, you'll be able to do that. You can't yet use a streaming box (Roku), USB stub device, or Blu-Ray player to manage your monthly subscription accounts.

Think about it--given that that weren't so: A teen of yours, his/her friend, a vengeful spouse/ex-, or a burglar might navigate your Roku to your account--they might then glean your major credit/debit card number and other personal info. Or, they may cancel your subscriptions--just for spite. You may thus suffer a fatal coronary--your teen or angry squeeze or ex- thus inherits your dough, quickly sells the home, packs up their new luggage and clothes, and boards a jet (first class) to Ibiza!

How can we eliminate the yellowish pattern of yaris head lamps?

You can buff your headlights. I usually use a course wax and a piece of clean cloth and that works wonders already. As Peter says above, you can also purchase specific headlamp cleaning kits, which are basically just some course wax, plus some fine emery paper in a nice box. Personally, unless I wanted to take the time to make a perfectly perfect result, then I wouldn't go that far, but at least you know your options.

My wife and I have the same email address. She has already signed up. How do I sign up using the same email address?

You can't unless you and she want to be the same person, basically. Emails are free and available so many places that website absolutely require a different one for each account.

Faulty ex wife and my computer

Well before I could actually even get further or deeper into the fix on my laptop the ex-wife had a compromise for me. Needless to say after a quite involved bickering and bartering sesion, the end result is she is now the proud owner of this Toshiba laptop. I appreciate the fact that there is a resource like this to aid in repairs of this nature. Thanks for your time...J
