My Simplicity 6870 vacuum won't run at times. Sometimes when I push the on button it will work while other times it won't. What could be causing this?

My first guess is that you have a damaged cord, or perhaps a dirty plug, or possibly even a bad outlet. There is a way to tell which, if any of those problems are the cause. Will you be doing the work, or someone else?

    I'll be doing the work

How long is the cord, and is that cord on a winder, or do you coil it up yourself before putting the unit away?

I believe my simplicity hose is clogged - how can I unclog it?

hoses seldom clog but the area around the head of the vacuum does
where the head is angled at the end of the wand is where items are caught and cause a blockage

Simplicity S38 vacuum wand wont work

There are a few things that can cause the wand to not work. I would suggest you make sure the spinning aspect isn't impeded by a string or wire. I would also check the suction of the hose itself. If the vacuum is too full, it won't be able to get a good suction through the hose, causing the want to not work.

Your simplicity has a lifetime belt. It has a sensor to shut the direct air motor off if something restricts the brushroll from from turning. You may save money in the long run by taking it to a simplicity or Riccar vacuum dealer.

Sentry 3 series vacuum smelled hot, and now will not power up, changed bag (not over full)

There is a reset button on the back of the vacuum that shuts the power off if the motor gets too hot. Try pushing the little white button on the back. If it comes back on that means that there is probably a clog somewhere or the bag was too full.

After changing bag, won't run. Is there a reset somewhere?

Look in the back of the machine toward the bottom by the silver tag. Red or white reset button. the early models did not have this.

My roomba 530 cleans just great, but it will not return to the docking station--it just stops in the middle of the floor without any warning. I push the dock button, etc. to no avail.

I sometimes have the same problem with my Roomba 530 (named Ethel). Make sure the signal transmittor on the docking station and the signal receiver on the top of the Roomba are clean. You can use a cloth or paper towel with a SMALL amount of window cleaner to run around both of these signal devices. I also like to clean the metal contacts on the station and the corresponding contacts on the bottom of the Roomba at the same time. This won't make a difference for the docking but it just assures that the vacuum will charge efficiently. If this doesn't work, you might need to have the unit cleaned professionally unless you feel comfortable about taking the unit apart and cleaning it yourself. I did this and Ethel has worked fine ever since!
If this helps, please come back and rate my suggestion!

Overheated vacuum

It normally won't over heat unless the bag is too full, the filters are clogged, or you have have a clog in the hose or down by the brush roll, the inlet may be clogged. Some will restart after a while, some others have a reset to push. If it won't power on, then you have a problem and it will have to serviced.
