Question about JVC Televison & Video

2 Answers

I purchased a JVC LT52X579 March 30/09. The TV would phase out by itself and then restart by itself. Some times it would remain on and could be cut off only by unplugging it from my sudge protection unit. Aaron'S sale and Lease (retailer) exchanged this set for another set (same model & make). I had the exchanged set for a few weeks and then experienced an area power shutdown. All electric applainces in my home went out for a few hours. After the outage I pushed the off power switch on my TV...to insure that the TV would remain off if the power was restored while I was away or sleep. All power was restored a few hours later, but the TV would not come on. All other appliances, lights, video player, Direct TV Receiver were on, but my 52 inch TV remains dark. can you diagnose this problem?

So from what you say the flat LCD JVC TV has a main power switch that you turned off and after power was restored you turned on the main power and also the other power switch (or remote on) and nothing lights up at all, not even the power light. Sounds like the power going off may have blown the internal fuse, or damaged the power supply.
you can open the back and see the power supply which has a wire running from where the AC goes in, check or replace the fuse located near the AC wire. if the fuse is good do a visual or the board for capacitors that look swollen or exploded. they can be replaced.
if good fuses and caps, then you need to measure for 5volts , best place if its not makred on the board is on the remote reciever sensor.
If 5 volts is there the power supply is probably Ok and the other board (signal board) is bad. there are only two main boards in most LCDs.
Hopefully its something simple like the main switch is have on or a blown fuse.
the circuit boards cost about $350 each, if the TV is under 1 year old you can get it fixed under warranty.
Good luck
Eric

Hi,
Please unplug TV from wall socket for couple of minutes, replug back in and turn ON.
If still does not power up, try it in another wall socket.
Also check standby/ power light flashing or its solid at TV.
If standby light is flashing or its not lit then TV got power supply problem and requires qualified TV tech. I hope TV is still under warranty so ask for warranty cover to store.
Thanks.

If using a cable box try connection direct without the box---also try to remove power from set and box for a while and then power back.

JVC MV-P612U Professional Microphone Wiring to XLR

The MV-P162U is a stereo mic designed to plug into a JVC professional camcorder. dates from the 1990's and was very expensive. If the 6 pin plug has not been cut off, and you can get a socket to fit, then going clockwise around pins (or wiring side of socket) from the locator.
1) R phase +
2) +8V supply
3) -ve supply/gnd
4) L phase +
5) L phase -
6) R phase -
suggest a small breakout box. tested it with a 9v battery - the drain is 14ma. could run from 12v via a 285 ohm (approx) resistor with a 47uf cap across the mic supply.

My JVC AV-48WP30 picture is distorted vertically to about half the screen height. If I turn the tv on and off a few times, sometimes it will correct itself, until I turn it off again.

Try resoldering the vertical output IC that should correct the issue repeated off and on cycles often tend to bridge the solder connection causeing the set to work untill power is cut off.

you have to get into the tv to do the adjustment. take the cover off and then look for the CRT tube and follow the yoke cables that will lead you to the printed circuit. you should see some small tiny knobs there. something like vertical phase or horizantl Phase..you need the verital to adjust the vertical size of the pic..good luck
