I have a Ingersoll Rand Compressor model# 2545E10V 10 HP,3 phase and I would like to convert it to a signle phase. would this motor here be good to go with and what other items will be needed to complete...

It might. Mounting holes match? Shaft diameter and adapter match? Power supply sufficient for 5HP motor? It's a big motor! You might get a better answer from the ebay supplier.

Replace compacitor on Carrier 5 ton 3 phase AC

Your 3 phase unit should not have a capacitor. I'm guessing it's single phase. If it's a single capacitor than the compressor should not be going to it also. To test the motor, common to start plus common to run should equal the ohms you get between start and run. For instance, 1.2 ohms+ 2.2 ohms= 3.4 ohms. Follow the wiring diagram on the inside of the door, send model number!!

My table saw will not start. the power source is good.

If the motor is using a single phase supply there will be a capacitor which could have reduced in value- open.
If so try and use a capacitor in parallel to see if the motor works-- in this case the motor might hum and get heated up.

My Powermatic 66 tablesaw has a 3 phase 230 Vac motor on it but I cannot tell if it is a 3 hp or 5 hp. All the tags are gone from the motor. Is there any way to tell from the serial number? 8666-1008.

There will be a tag on the motor that will give the specs. Sometimes they are hard to see from the underside and its not easy to remove the top see them. Try lowering the motor (with blade removed) all the way and use a digital camera to reach up into the cabinet and photoqraph the top of the motor. I had to take several since your shooting blind to get a picture of mine.

I would like to connect a pressure switch to the motor starter

hi! there, single phase compressor motor need a starting capacitor base on the rated capacity in horse power, you can check this on the tag of the compressor motor how many horsepower was indicated,it should be for single phase motor starting capacitor has a capacity of micro farads.for a 1 horsepower = 15 to 18 micro farads stating capacitor if you have more than 1 horsepower you can basically proportion the value of capacitor you need or ask the dealer how much capacitor you need on your motor the connection of pressure switch with a four terminal should be connected both on common line L1 and running capacitor line L2 .if you open the cover of pressure switch there are 4 terminals,2 terminals are connected when normally close or no pressure they connected on series connection on the common line one terminal connected to common line of the compressor and the other terminal on L1 to the pushbutton switch to L1 supply line.the 2 other terminals also connected in series withe line capacitors L2 to yhr power supply line.hope this will help you a lot.just rate my fix thanks a lot.

Motor is from a table saw; it rans badly only for a short time and it blows the breaker. Thanks for info Chris Schwarzmaier Additional info: single phase 220, 2 hp, no interial centrifugal switch, start...

Check the brushes to see if they are worn. Also, check the commutator (where the brushes run) Double check the capacitors to make sure that they are the right value. Most motors that size can be wired several different ways -- make sure it's wired right for your hookup.

I have recently purchased used powermatic 66 Table

That is the current setting for a motor-starter which is an overcurrent sensor. This is a circuit breaker like device that usually has a heater coil that opens a contact which cuts the power to the relay that powers the motor to prevent overload damage to the motor.

The dial is in AMPS and should be set just slightly higher than the nameplate amp rating for the motor.

Table saw capacitor heats up and explodes.

The wrong capacitor for one thing. There are starting caps and running caps. The starting cap is in the circuit for only long enough for the motor to get up to speed. If you have a Leeson motor that has a start and run cap then the run cap may not be the correct on. If you have a start cap blowing out I suggest you check the centriifugal switch in the end of the motor. It may have welded the contacts shut. In any case, I would take it to a motor shop .
