TSM/TSSM BANK ANGLE FUNCTION

GENERAL

The turn signals, the starter motor, the ignition controller (ECM) and the coil will be disabled in the event the vehicle tilts more than 45 degrees from vertical for longer than one second.

CAUTION

If the vehicle is being operated with a sidecar, the setting MUST be switched from solo vehicle operation to sidecar operation or the TSM/TSSM will not function properly. If a sidecar is installed, reconfigure the TSM/TSSM using the method under Service manual VEHICLE DELIVERY instructions.

OPERATION

The engine will shut off automatically if the vehicle tilts more than 45 degrees from vertical for longer than one second and the engine will automatically shut off even if the tilt occurs at a very slow speed. To restart the motorcycle after shutdown has occurred return the motorcycle to an upright position. And then cycle the ignition key to OFF and then to ON before trying to start the vehicle.

I bought a new battery from harley, installed it and it worked for a day. Now the lights come on and the security works, but the engine will not turn over. I looked in the manual and can't tell what I...

Look for "resetting the ECM" in the manual. I don't work on the ECM equipped bikes but I've heard guys talk about the procedure of turn the ignition switch on and off several times while pressing different buttons on the bike to "reset" the computer after a battery change. This is just something I've heard that you may find something about in the owner's manual. I do know that the security systems have something like this on them as well. That's why I don't work on them. I work on the early model bikes that the dealers will no longer work on. Shovelheads and Ironheads.

Good Luck

How to reset service light

I think the following will work:

1 . Insert key into ignition barrel.
2 . Press and hold the Reset switch (located on the Trip Computer Switchpack).
3 . NOTE: The reset switch has to be released immediately after the ignition is switched 'ON'. This is critical to enable the rest of the procedure.
Turn the key to Ignition position II and at the point of entering Ignition position II (i.e when a click is heard), instantaneously release the Reset switch.
4 . Wait one second.
5 . Press and hold the Trip switch (located on the end of the left-hand side stalk).
6 . Wait one second.
7 . Press and hold the Reset switch (whilst still holding the Trip switch).
8 . The cluster should display (within three seconds) the warning message 'RESETTING SERVICE MODE'.
9 . Keep both buttons pressed until the warning message changes to 'SERVICE MODE RESET' (after ten seconds).
10 . Once the message is displayed the buttons may be released â€" sequence is now complete.
11 . If a Service Required message was displayed prior to the reset sequence, cycle the ignition to 'Off' and then back to Ignition position II and check that the message is no longer displayed.

Service engine soon light stays on. I had the oil changed and the filter but didn't see any reset on these devises.

Will not reset it's self you need to reset your ECM on your car's computer. Do this by Turniing your ign. key to on position then turn on a/c then disconnect your positive battery terminal. wait 30 sec then turn key off and replace battery cable. Good luck to ya. PS, If something else is a problem this will put the code back to your ecm and will come back on. But this should fix your problem.
