Ok,there could be two possibilities ,1, The daisy wheel may not be seated in properly. Of course I assume that the print side of the daisy wheel is facing the platen and that when the typewriter is switched on the print unit makes its customary re-setting motion and that the daisy wheel spins around at the same time. if this does not happen make sure that the lock-in lever for the daisy wheel is pushed home.. I am sure that you do all these elementary things so the only other possibility is the the hammer seleniod is not fully functioning and would have to be re-placed....Good luck!

To Tholloway;

The problem is in the shift clutch. Unless you know how to remove the upper case there isn't a lot you can do.

SOURCE: remove a label stuck to the metal floater behind the pleten myself

Take a quarter piece of typing paper. Soak it in paint thinner. Roll this down where the label is stuck. The paint thinner will dissolve the adhesive on the label but will not harm anything in the typewriter.

Typewriter ,brother ML100 STANDARD : I CHANGED THE DAIZY WHEEL AND PRINTING REBBON. THE PRINTER IS NOT COORDINATE WITH TYPING KEYS WHEN I TYPED. EXAMPLE , IF I TYPE B , A DIFFERENT PRINT INSTEAD .

Turn the machine off and allow it to rehome itself. If that doesn't help the printwheel homing pawl is probably broken. you will need a tech.

My typewriter does not print. I do not have a manual or instructions for this typewriter. Is there a code I will need to insert in order for it to print...delayed or otherwise? Thank you!

Check that the daisy wheel is properly installed and if the ribbon has been used up. Try pressing and holding CODE and then press Reset. (This needs to be done after the daisy wheel, correction tape or ribbon is replaced.)

The daisy wheel has a protruding ear that should be on the top right. To remove, open the cover, pull the lever towards you and lift the wheel by that ear. To reinsert, insert the wheel in the slot and press down gently. Then slide the lever forward to lock the wheel in place. Then close the cover and reset the carrier (CODE+Reset). Make sure that the ear is to the top right when you reinstall the daisy wheel.

The amount of ribbon left can be determined by looking through the viewing hole on the right hand side of the cassette when the cover is open.

The manual is available here: http://www.brother-usa.com/manuals/default.aspx?PGID=10&R3ModelID=ML100 as a PDF.

I hope this helps.

The spring mechanism that causes the machine to kick on and off has come apart. How do you reattach the spring?

TURN POER OFF FIRST remove lid and have a friend lift the drum upwards from the inside whilst sombody else man handles the spring back in place it would appear that the machine was overloaded and really unbalanced for the spring to become detached

The Brother ML100 uses the BRT 1030. There are several supplies available like the lift off tape, the daisy wheel and of course the printing cassette.

Striker Sticking When Erasing. Brother ML100 Typewriter

Sounds like the gears you cleaned may be dry and sticking, spray a little WD40. or that gear on the right side is still out of time. I think there is a spring clutch in the gear train which may be bad. One secret to repairs is to perform the same actions that you want the typewriter to do by hand and watch closely. You may see something not movving, or moving slow that under power you won't see.
