SOURCE: Broken lid

Head over to the manufacturer's website.

Typically they have a SUPPORT section - where you enter the FULL model number, and then can get a parts breakdown and ordering information.

Want to disengage lid lock on maytag centennial

I had the same problem. The lid lock assembly is broken. If you are under warranty get it replaced. If not remove the top of the washer and take out the switch assembly. The 4 wires going in are Yellow, Red, White, and Blue. If you short the white and blue together, the washer thinks the lid is closed. If you short the red white and blue together the washer thinks the lid is closed and locked. The yellow is only there to activate the electromagnetic switch.
Disconnecting the switch assembly will not work.
The electromagnet locks the lid and it also unlocks the lid. It is not a matter of cutting the power to the magnet.
Installing 2 switches that connect the red white and blue is the best option if you want to remove the lock.
The first switch should connect the white and blue. (LID CLOSED)
The second should connect the red to the white/blue connection. (LID LOCKED)
After that the lid should work.
Please post a follow-up if this works for you.
GOOD LUCK

Lite oven pilot where is it

How old is this oven? I recently worked on my Magic Chief (mid 1980's model) and it did not have a pilot. It has more of a "glow plug" type ignition system, and I was able to replace the glow plug. This was about a $50 generic part, but it works fine now.

what is the model number?if it's an older machine you could have a broken lid switch or a broken motor coupling.close the lid down and open it a few inches,do this a few times,if you don't hear a clicking sound you have a broken lid switch,if you can hear the motor running and the machine isn't moving you broke the motor coupling.let me know how old it is and the model number

Lid switch not working

Hello, welcome to FixYa.

Based on your description it sounds like you`ll need to replace it, but first...

Here`s how you can check it pretty easily...

( this is based on the most common Whirlpool, Estate, Kitchen-Aid, Roper, Kenmore, Inglis topload washer, not neccessarily applicable to ALL...especially those built in the past 1-2yrs. the model number would distinguish if it applies to your particular model )

Lift the lid, if you observe the underside of the lid there will be a plastic "strike" or "actuator" that goes into a hole when the lid is closed.

Check the hole where the actuator goes into the cabinet and insure you can see a gray oval shaped piece. If so take a small screw-driver, pen/pencil or something small enough to fit thru the small hole and try activating the switch by pushing it down ( machine must be in the agitate or spin cycle ). If you don't see it, the switch has likely broken loose and needs to be replaced.

If it start's to function than the switch is not being contacted properly by the actuator on the lid and likely is due to the switch being worn...unless the actuator on the lid is broke, if so there`s the problem.

Make sure the switch is being held in place via the two screws along the side, if they are loose tighten them, if it is broken, it will need to be replaced.

Here`s a helpful link for changing it out,

The lid switch will look like this...

Let me know what you find and if I can assist you further.

good luck.

Fisher & paykel machine locked but lid is up

It sounds like the lid lock is either stuck or broken,You will need to lift the top hob by removing the two plastic lugs where the lid rests & removeing the screws it will then lift up and you will be able to remove the lock to inspect it,Also you can remove the lid in the up position by pulling vertically to make it a bit easier,Hope this helps Cheers.

Hotpoint wma76 front load very noisy on spin cycle

If the machine is only noisy during the spin cycle then it is probably not the bearings, more likely it is probably the same issue I had. There is a large weight attached to the top of the drum, in my case it was loose. A simple fix, remove the lid and tighten the three bolts. The lid is removed using a T20 star key, you can buy these at places like Homebase or B&Q (about £7.50 for a set of 10 different sizes). There are two little plastic lugs on the side of the lid, the screws are behind these, remove them and then pull the lid forward and up. The weight is obvious, it looks like an odd shaped brick and is bolted down with three bolts. In my case the front one was loose.

Spin Cycle on Wash Machine does not work

You probably have a defective lid switch. If you open and close the lid, you should hear a "clicking" sound as the lid switch is activated. If you do not hear the switch, check to make sure the lid strike in still intact. This is a small plastic piece mounted on the lid that pushes down on the switch through a slot on the wash tub opening on the right hand side. If this piece breaks off, it will give the same symptoms of a broken lid switch. Next, check the two mounting screws on the right side of the wash tub opening to make sure they are tight. These are the mounting screws for the lid switch. Sometimes they come loose and the switch does not make proper contact. If you attempt all these preliminaries, and the switch still does not seem to be working properly, replace it. A replacement can be found at searspartsdirect.com. Just type in your model number and the part will be located under the "Top and Cabinet" heading. If you need assistance in determining a part number, please post back with your model number. For instructions on how to replace a lid switch, click on the following link:

This is a very simple and inexpensive repair. However, if you require additional assistance, please let me know. I hope this helps you.
