ACTUALLY CREEKY WITH BEARING AND SEAL REMOVAL, YOU NEED CERTAIN TOOLS AND KNOWLAGE CONCERNING THE PROCEEDURE. TO DO IT AS A D.I.Y.REPAIR ONCE OFF IS POSSIBLY NOT VIABLE DUE TO DEFINITE DAMAGE WHICH WILL OCCUR. SUGGEST A TECH.

SOURCE: Question from electricain with long

I wonder if L1 and N are reversed, at least for this hot plate. The readings you get are consistent with a switched neutral and always-connected L1. This is not permitted in any electrical code I know.

If you get a constant 240 V at "terminal 1" referenced to "terminal 2", but no heat, and the resistance is consistent with a 1400 W heater when it's cold, I'd suspect a heater terminal or the element itself is opening up when it gets warm. If you have a means of measuring current such as a clamp-on induction ammeter, you may see an initial current up to 6 amps, then a quick drop-off to zero, random fluctuation, or cycling on and off. That would confirm my hypothesis.

SOURCE: GE digital timer 15313 has 3 wires, black, blue and green. Wall switch wires have bare, black, red and white from one line, and black and white from the other line. I've tried every combination

It sounds like you are replacing 3-way switch.
Low voltage light? Are these lights connected to 120Volt circuit?

I think you want the GE 15312 timer, instead of GE 15313.

GE 15313 is for single-pole incandescent light bulbs only.

The left front burner will turn on for a few seconds then turn off then back on and off. It would not heat the pan on it. This is a glass top range. Are there any tests that I can do to find the problem?...

If the rest of the hotplate elements are working correctly and you are performing the same tests with all of them then you have a problem. We know that the hotplate works. When hotplates are faulty they don't turn on and off, they just don't work. This would generally be a hotplate controller problem. It sounds as if the controller is faulty and requires replacing. If you are handy you can switch the suspect hotplate controller with a good one and see what happens. This will confirm our suspicions.

Dual top burner will only heat up on high.It is only the large ring burner GE JBP79

Does it go straight to full heat even though it is on the low setting. If this is the case the hotplate controller is faulty and requires replacement.

I have a Maytag Glasstop stove (Mer5875qas). THe left front dual burner only heats on the outside ring. The inner portion does not heat. Could it be a wiring problem or is it more likely that the burner...

There are 2 likely causes. It is more likely that the element is open circuited and needs replacing. The hotplate controller could also be faulty. The circuit needs to be tested to determine the faulty part.

The large electric burner on GE spectra model JBP78 WWW will not heat below level 6

This would generally be a hotplate controller problem. If this is a normal hotplate then we know it is okay because it is working. The controller sounds as though it is faulty.

I would suggest you replace the hotplate that keeps tripping the supply, this hopefully will solve the prob you are experiencing with the other plates.

The pad between the bottom plate and sanding belt is worn, torn, and folded/disfigured on one corner. What is it's function and where can I get a replacement?

That pad is usually made of cork or graphite It's used to give the back side of the sanding belt a soft and slippery surface to run on so it won't over heat/tear and fail. The part you need is P/N 2601098037 Any Bosch service center will be able to get one for you. Go to BoschTools.com and look under "find a service center"

I have a neff T1.D20 dual circuit hotplate but although the inner lights up and gets hot the outer part doesnt. Is the outer part supposed to?

I have a T172 model which also has a dual circuit hotplate.

In the control area you should find a dual circuit control pad - this has two concentric circles on it. With the hob switched on, pressing this button will chnage the mode of the dual circuit hot plate bewteen:
1. Just the inner part
2. Both the inner and outer together.

When the hob is switched off using the Standby control pad, it remembers which mode was selected and will therefore work the same next time it is switched on. However, it is worth noteing that when the mains power to the hob is interuppted, either by an isolator switch/breaker, or a power cut, the hob defaults back to just the inner ring mode.

The hot plate is heating up when the selector is in off position

Hotplate heating up when regulator/selector switched off. Hi ,this is gil1714 in Scotland. Two possibilities on this one, 1) the regulator is faulty:- replace
2) if the control circuit (regulator) is wired on the neutral side the hotplate may be leaking current to
earth, thereby completing the circuit. This would only occur on a supply that was not protected by
an RCD. If so replace hotplate. Hope this is useful,
