How do I correct Ruku loading problems

Hi,

You didn't say exactly what is happening or which Roku model you have, but:

Roku requires registration on their website with a credit card. They will then give you an activation code. This has to done first.

If your Roku can be used with either a wired (Ethernet) cable (Cat 5 / 6) or wireless, you may need to configure your network router to recognize the Roku device. Just a tip - these devices seem to work better with a wired connection rather than wirelessly unless the wireless router is close to the unit. The video can be choppy with wireless units, especially if you have other streaming devices in use.

Note that some of the Roku supported content sites are free but sites like Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon require a paid subscription.

Choppy internet connection

If you are a frequent viewer of Internet-based video, then you know how frustrating it can be when streaming video doesn't play correctly. When a video is described as being "choppy," it can mean several things, including out-of-sync audio, stuttering frame rate and/or inconsistent stream speeds. However, although this term can mean several things, there are several ways to address all of these issues at once and help make your video viewing experience a bit smoother. Empty your Internet browser's cache and temporary files. Click the "Tools" menu and then select "Clear Private Data Now" (in Firefox) or "Delete Browser history" (in Internet Explorer). When you browse the Internet, your browser collects information from the websites you visit and carries this information as temporary and cache files. Too many of these files can bog down your computer, so delete them. Disable hardware acceleration. Open your computer's "Control Panel" and then click "Display." Select the "Settings" tab, click on "Advanced" and then click "Troubleshoot." Drag the hardware acceleration slider all the way to the left. This procedure can help reduce the strain on your processor, which can lead to choppy videos. Add virtual memory. If you are using Windows Vista or 7, you can add extra RAM to your computer by plugging a USB mass storage device into the computer. The operating system will automatically convert the unused space into RAM. Run your disk defragmenting utility. Click "Start" and then select "Programs." Click "System Tools" and then "Disk Defragmenter." This utility will eliminate the fragmenting of files, which could be taxing your processor. Internet streaming audio problems

At this point I would suggest doing a fresh install of the windows operational system, or if you can remember when the problem started with the last download or updates that may give a clue where to look, finally try a system restore if you can back date it far enough.

Choppy Video? What do you mean choppy video? Is the video starting and stopping rather than playing continuous? If so, either you need more memory or the site you are watching the video from is slow. Also sometimes you line speed on the computer might be slow if you are watching the video online.

How does the video play if you played a DvD in your computer? If it plays the DvD without stalling, then your problem is more than like the site you are watching or the line speed as you stream the video.

Choppy video and sluggish computer response

How much HD space do you have left? Most macs run best if you keep abou 10gb of HD space free. Furthermore, cut back on excessive app loads (bells and whistles. The ultimate solution is to back up your files and reinstall the mac os. If the problem persists it is possible that the CPU is starting to break down. This is replaceable at significant cost from mac repair shop. Maximizing RAM helps some, but age of the equipment will reduce performance.
