Well for one, make sure you speed up slowly, dont HIT the accelerator. It may also be problems with your fuel filter. After you are stoped fuel stops running through the fuel pump/filter and then when you start going its starts to run through again and it cant keep up so it gets bubbles in it and doesnt move throught the filter easily hence the jerky accelerating. The first thing I would do is lift the seat and check the battery connections. Those batteries are notorious for corrosion at the terminals. Make sure every connection is clean and solid, as in no loose, corroded or frayed battery cables. Next, if the batteries check out, toggle the run/tow switch, also under the seat to make sure it is fully engaged into the run position, and finally check the forward/reverse lever to make sure the connections are clean and tight.
