May 24, 2017 JVM1190 - - What are your symptoms?

I regularly repair the controllers for these microwaves and details are here.

It's best to follow up with me directly. (FixYa does not notify us directly when follow-ups are posted, so we have to log in to the site to see them.)

If you are determined to replace it, ask GE Customer Service if they have a direct replacement for your model. They are here: http://www.geappliances.com/ge/service-and-support/contact.htm

SOURCE: GE JVM1190 will not heat

Check for a reset on the back--if nothing, pull the cord and remove the case. Look for a blown fuse. If you find one blown, replace the high voltage diode in the magnetron power supply. Remove the sheet metal wave guide which covers the area where the microwave energy enters the cooking cavity. Under the wave guide there is a fan-like device called a 'stirrer' that has a plastic bearing which can short out due to an arc that passes through the bearing. Replace the stirrer and the blown fuse. The machine can be tested with cover off as long as you keep your hands out of it. Use a cup of cold water for a cooking load. Running the unit empty can cause a repeat of your problems. If you did not find a blown fuse, check the door interlock switch(es) for failure or coming loose from the mounting.

Lost instructions. Can you provide uninstall instructions for JVM1190 under cupboard microwave? Thank you!

Many appliance owners manuals are available online as PDF files. There is usually no fee involved in downloading these.

Google your brand and model number. GE may have a website which has the manual available.

JVM1190 wont cook

You have a blown actuator. This is the device that creates the microwaves that cook the food. The cost of one of these will be as much as a new unit.

GE JVM1190 control pad

It is not your key panel, but the magnetron inside the microwave that is causing you the problem. The reason it does not short out on defrost or convection is because it is not drawing as much current through the magnetron to short out.

Ge JVM1190 appears to be working but does not cook.

I spoke with a qualified microwave technician who advised me to buy a new microwave as the problem I was having indicated that the magnetron tube had blown. What a waste of time to ask for help from you.
