SOURCE: My Garmin has stopped finding destinations - just says "Searching for Satellite)+

I had the same problem with my Nuvi 310. Found a solution in here that works. Here's a copy of the advice.....note you will need to get in the car and set it for a destination and go. 5-10 mins later the Garmin Nuvi will lose the satellites, but don't adjust it it, leave it on and keep going. Eventually after about an hour it will right itself, pick up the satellites and evrything will be back to normal.

Here's the advice:

I experienced the same problem about acquiring satellite signal even when it's a clear sunny day. After 30 mintues, it was still searching!
The unit appeared to have "stuck" in this acquiring mode. The following worked for me:
1) open the GPS antenna
2) press the bottom left screen while holding the power button to turn the unit on
3) enter maintenace mode
4) select diagnostics
5) clear error report, do NOT clear any user data
6) restart unit the usual way

My GPS 350 was able to acquire satellite signal in less than 1 minute after the above steps were taken.

SOURCE: My Garmin keeps shutting off. And when I do get

These units seem to be suffering from a bad connection on the inside of the unit. My wife's did the same thing. There was a connection inside that wasn't making contact. First try cleaning the 4 brass connection tabs on the watch and check your charger to make sure the tabs are raised and not squished. Second try to reset the unit. Hit mode reset and power buttons all at the same time. Hold these for 3 seconds and then release. If these do not work here is what I did. There are no screws holding the unit together. I used a exacto blade to very carefully pry the unit apart along the side seam. It's not easy to do. Be very cautious and gentle. Work the thickness of the blade into the joint to gently wedge apart. You are not trying to remove material! Once apart you will see some fingers that make a connection between the upper and lower part of the unit. This is where the problem was with my wife's 305. I gently raised these tabs to make a better connection, It's been working ever since. I didn't try it before but try pressing very hard on the unit where it says Forerunner 305. The case is very hard so it might not work. But if it powers up when pushing you found your problem. Hope this helps. Here is a link I found on opening a 205 (Same process) http://ctorunner.googlepages.com/dismantleforerunner205 To put the unit back together use Automotive silicon/gasket maker. Use a tooth pick to put a VERY small amount of silicon around the entire seam. Put the two half's together and wrap tightly with electrical tape. Test the unit immediately to see if it powers on and off. If it does not open it back up and raise the small prongs that make the connection from the bottom half to the top half. If any silicon squishes out the sides wipe with water and a rag. Let the unit sit over night. In the morning remove the tape.

SOURCE: Garmin nuvi 1350 can't find signal

Fist you should travel around with it, and see if in a different area you get satellites.

It could be where you are at, so this does not mean that in another town or state it won't work.

If you try this and still have problems it could be the unit and you should contact the MFG and send it in for repair.

This is the contact support page I posted below if you need it, its a live link so if you click on it the page will open.

It is working ok but the screen is too bright, without adjust Is it a hardware or software problem? thanks

You should be able to adjust it using Tools - Brightness. If you can't it is more likely a software glitch, as long as all the other touch controls on the screen work.

You can update the software here.

http://www8.garmin.com/support/collection.jsp?product=010-00782-20

You can also do two types of reset.

How to Reset a Garmin 1350 by Kefa Olang, Demand Media Whether you're on a local or national business trip, a Garmin Nuvi 1350 GPS can help you find your way around. However, if the device is not functioning as expected, performing a reset is a troubleshooting step that can solve common problems. A soft reset reboots the GPS's hardware without deleting saved data, but a master reset clears saved data and settings to restore the device to the factory state.
Step 1 Press and hold the "Power" button for a few seconds to reset your Garmin Nuvi 1350 if it's not performing as expected. This soft reset reboots the device's hardware without deleting saved files.
Step 2 Turn off the Garmin Nuvi 1350 if you're still experiencing problems, and then disconnect it from a power outlet, if it's connected to one.

Step 2
Touch and hold the lower-right corner of the screen while powering on the device. Release the power button when the screen turns on, but keep pressing down on the screen. Step 4 Touch "Yes" when the "Do you really want to erase all user data?" message appears on the screen. If the text is in another language other than English, touch the button on the right to confirm your selection.
Step 5 Wait for the GPS to reset automatically, and then follow the on-screen guided prompts to reconfigure it.

Why does myGarmin 1350 keep losing external power and shutting down, then restart, sometimes losing current destination info, sometimes not.

Major problem with the Nuvi 13xx series as well as the 11xx, 12xx & 14xx series is a loose/broken USB jack in the back which is preventing power from remaining constant into the unit. This will also prevent the internal battery from being charged. We can repair this issue and reinforce the jack. Please see this link for more information:
