SOURCE: acer aspire 5335 connects to wireless internet, but not with eathernet cat5 cable?? thanks

Make sure the Network Connection for the LAN is not disabled. Click Start/Control Panel and look for the Network Connections. Make sure the Network Connection for the LAN is not disabled. if it is disabled, right click on it and select enable.

Also the port could be bad on the computer. If it does not light up when you put the cable in the port might be damaged.

How to connect to xbox live

Get a cat5e or cat6e, connect the 360 to a router with that. Then, connect the router to your DSL or cable modem with another cat5e or cat6e cable unless your modem has a router built into it, then connect it directly to the modem. Then play!

Setup belkin wireless network

Hi,
1.Connect a Cat5 cable into the Ethernet port on the back of your cable or DSL modem. Plug the other end of the cable into the "Connect to Modem Internet/WAN" port on the back of the Belkin Router.
2.Connect a Cat5 cable into the "Ethernet" port on the back of any desktop or stationary computers and then plug the other end of the cable into one of the LAN ports on the back of the Belkin Router. Start with port one and work your way up with subsequent computer connections.
3.Turn the Belkin Router on by plugging the router into a power outlet. Allow 30 seconds for the router to fully boot up. All computers tethered to the modem via a Cat5 cable have access to the Internet.
4.Open the Wi-Fi Wizard on your laptop and turn on the Wi-Fi antenna. Once turned on, the Wizard finds all network connections in your area. Connect to your network to establish an Internet connection. Complete this step for each computer not tethered to the Belkin Router with a Cat5 cable.

I have a desktop and a laptop (new for xmas) and I want to set up the laptop to the wireless-N Router Model WRT160N. I am set up with internet through a bundle system through our television. Do I plug the...

first a couple of things.
if your router has wireless support your laptop (if new) should have a wireless adapter built in, so basically your destop computer can be wirely plugged into the router and your laptop shoud "connect wirelessly" to your adapter
so this is how your set up should look like

desktop
--cable-- = - cablemodem - = linksys router = ----- wire----- desktop

laptop
--cable-- = - cablemodem - = linksys router = ))wireless))) laptop

you need read up a bit, here are some links that will have info you need

manual for wireless configuration (select the proper revision for your router and check user manual)

configure wireless network for vista

read up and if you have any questions post back.

hope that helps.

I can't hook up my PC with my wireless router how I can do this?

You could simply hardwire your computer directly to your router, unless you want to purchase a Wireless Card or USB. You will still need a computer connected to your Wireless router to act as a terminal to edit and set the settings on the router. Most regular routers use CAT5 (Ethernet) cord to setup their networks, which is what you should use.

Go to your local store and purchase 2 CAT5 Cables to connect one from your modem into your router and one from your router to your PC. Once you have set up your wireless router you can then access your router from anywhere in your house.

Good luck, if you need help feel free to comment.

Thanks,

How do i hook up a router

Let's proceed first with the physical connectivity. Please follow the steps below:

1. Make sure that your computer is working when directly connected to the modem.

2. Connect the CAT5 cable of your modem to the WAN port of your GWA504.

3. You should have another CAT5 cable. That CAT5 cable will be connected to any one of the LAN ports on the back of that router.

4. Connect the other end of the CAT5 cable to the network card of your computer.

5. After the physical connection, just let me know and we will proceed with the next steps. Because your statement is very broad. We have to consider lots of things here. Please reply so that I could further assist you.

Is it possible to have 2 pieces routers to expand the distribution of internet connection instead of using router to hub? what type of cabling should i used to do it? please help thanks

I guess you have a single incoming internet connection and wish it to be shared.

You only require one DSL / Cable router. To share this connectivity you will need Ethernet / Cat5 or wireless.

An ethernet switch or hub will enable you to extend connectivity.

All cable should be CAT5e or CAT6.
Suggest you consider the slightly more expensive switches that have auto-uplink. The negates the need of crossover cables.

Cat5e 350mhz wire

What you can do with the cat5 cables is plug the wire into the PS3 and the other end into your home router or switch. This might be a problem if your router or switch is in another room or so but it will most likely give you less lag.

Hope this helps, let me know if ya have problems connecting if you decide to use the cat5 wire but it should be about the same setup as using wireless.

My wireless router wont work

Run a cat5 cable from the laptop to a cat5 port on the router, open internet explorer in the address window type http://192.168.1.1 or what ever the IP address of the router once you have accessed the router create your PPPOE internet connection, enter your Internet Service Provider's username and password. Once you have done this, disconnect the cat5 cable and connect wirelessly to the router from the laptop. If all this fails press and hold the reset button on the back of the router for 10-15 seconds this will reset the router to factory defaults. connect to the wireless router and create the PPPOE connection. Trouble do download drive or software

1st you want the phone cord to go from the wall to your modem, from the modem to the router connect using the cat5 cable, from router to pc using cat5 cable. then connect the power cord and turn it on....once connected open the browser and type 192.168.1.1 hit enter. This will prompt for a user name and password...should be either admin/admin or admin/password.

then you have to contact your ISP for proper settings. then your good to go.
