Didnt specify make model size or anything about the pump-generic answer--im assuming now means not working --most pumps buzzing or humming would mean jammed -bearing locked -or seized--you will need to disconnect power and gain access to the pump when you do try to turn impeller if frozen will need to examine if pump or motor is stuck try lubing all bearings and try moving unit back or forth to free unit --

Emerson 1081 pool pump makes buzzing noise when i turn it on wont start

Either something blocking the impeller / shaft, from turning or the motor failed.

You can try to manually assist the motor, by removing the small cap at the back of the motor, getting a flat blade screwdriver, and right when you flip the switch (get a helper) turn the shaft clockwise while it buzzes. If it takes off - possible Bad Capacitor? Try a couple times if it doesn't take.

if bad capacitor, make sure you get the exact replacement, or 'Slightly Greater' will work - and I refer to the MFD number. Don't go smaller!

Loud buzzing sound when turned on. Some flow to jets just not muc

Replacing the whole thing is pretty easy but costly. You could save up to about $100 just replacing the motor which is still around $300 alone. Try local electric motor shops that advertise pump or pool repairs. The motor may also be fixable so you would be best served to take it to one of those shops for an inspection prior to just ordering anything new.

Pool pump was on had a storm electric went out.

Pull the lid and strainer basket off your pump and reach in (electricity will be off at this point) and make sure that the pump inlet isn't blocked with debris from the storm... small stuff can get thru the strainer and jam up the pump motor... I know...i've got the pool from hell ...constantly jamming the pump...but it's next to a huge evergreen tree...

after you get the debris out, take a crescent wrench and remove the cap off the motor shaft on the outside of the pump. Turn that shaft with a wrench back and forth to free up the motor and dislodge the debris... if it frees up, put it all back together and turn the power may have to repeat this process a coupe of times to completely clean the impellers in the pump.... good luck!

My pump will not come on only hums was working

Your pump will have to be either rebuilt or replaced. Look in your local yellow pages under pump repair.

Can't get pump to prime

Is this the first time starting up this season? 1. Make sure pool level is up. 2. Check lid gasket and coat with silicone based lube. 3. Try to fill skimmer or drain line as much as possible. 4. If there ara two suction lines coming in then try to prime pump on just one of them. Gradually open second valve after prime is achieved. 5. If pump sits more than two feet above pool level then you will have to allow ample time for priming (it may take a couple of minutes).6. Make sure strainer drain plug threads are taped up. 7. If able to, try priming through another line.Good Luck
