What are 3 functions of syntax in command 'dir'
The syntax is the correct method of typing a command. The command must be entered in the correct order and spelling for the operating system to accept it.
dir/w is correct
dir/w will display the contents of the current directory, but in a wide format
dir/p will display the contents of the current directory until your screen is full. You then press any key to scroll down the directory listing until you reach the end.
dir will display the contents of the current directory with each directory item shown on a new line.
you can use each of these switches together too.
dir/w/p will display the contents of the current directory in a wide format but the listing will pause when the screen is full. Pressing any key will scroll the listing down.
A word to the wise. If you are not comfortable or have little or no experience with working in the DOS Command environment, DONT.... You can cause serious damage to a system simply by mistyping a command or using the wrong command.
Do so at your own risk..
