Canister vacuum

Without the make or model... We are speaking in GROSS GENERALITIES... but

ELECTRICAL Trouble...
The light & the BRUSH not working ... when considered TOGETHER.. would indicate a NEED to check your electrical connections...

My best advise would be to:
make sure the cords & wands are fully connected
make sure the (HEAD) motor is running ...

If the motor (brush head) is running... belt looks good and brush is not seized (or jammed)...

You will need to look to the DRIVE PULLEY on the motor OUT-PUT shaft...

Hope this helps

WHY IS MY ORDECK XL HARD TO PUSH ON FLAT CARPETS

It could be that you need to rotate your brush or perhaps replace it. There are 5 screws that hold the base plate on, remove them and remove the base plate. Look at the bearing ends for your brush, what you are going to be looking for is a series of "hash" marks on the bearing block. If you see 4-8 "hash" marks, you need to rotate your brush and re-install it. If you only see one mark, it has already been rotated and I would recommend replacing the brush. This would also be a good time to change your belt as well. Hope this helps!

HI, My Dyson DC07 Is excellent When I use the hose, But it's not so good on carpets. There is no blockage in the bottom hose & all the filters are clean. Also the belt & roller are working &...

There's a possibility the bristles on the brush are worn down so much they no longer make good contact with the carpet, hence they don't brush certain types of debris into the airflow of the powerhead.
You can check the brushes by gently stroking the palm of your hand along the brush area to see if the bristles make good contact. A visual check can also be made by looking at one side of the powerhead, line it up so you can see the other side. If the bristles can't be seen, the brush needs replaced.

Eureka Boss - Belt is not broke but brush will not turn. I have already turned it over - checked belt - and pushed the reset button.

The belt may look fine but they can still be stretched or worn and it won' turn the brush. Try changing the belt and see what it does. You can get Eureka belts here:

Check that the beater bar is completely clear of thread, this will bring the brush roll back to normal. Also check the sides of the brush roll doesn't have anything such as thread or thick string at the sides.

Bearings in the vaccum's main brush

Alot of times things get wound up on the brush roll ends and causes friction, the ends will overheat and melt, you just have to replace the brush roll(62365-2) and a new belt (61120A)while you are at it. Also check the slots where the brush sit in to make sure they didn't melt too, if so you would have to replace the base(62577).
