The HDMI cable is one wire, it looks kinda like a usb cable. It only sends the video signal. Your tv will have an HDMI input and a corresponding audio input. For the audio you will have to use a seperate cable. Usually the audio is sent via a cable with a red and white plug on each side. Please give me a positive vote and feel free to send me any further questions you have.

Hdmi not working

I don't know the particular system that you are using, but it could be a setting in "options" that is preventing you from using HDMI. It is also possible that your HDMI cable is broken or incompatible in some way.

I have a Phillips HDTV model #42PF7421D/37. When

Try another hdmi wire. Physically look at the hdmi port and see if there is damage done to the port. Change the source. IE another cable box, xbox 360 dvd play etc. If all else fails, change SSB or Scaler. Depending on the set. It'll be one or the other. I don't have my information with me at the moment to distinguish which one you'll have.

32" protron tv

an output like ( HDMI ) would be on a dish reciever , and a hdmi input on a tv would plug into that output on the dish reciever
Is HDMI what you are trying to connect? then you would need an HDMI cable
HDTV = High Definition television , which means that you have a built in digital tuner that will pick up the digital and high definition broadcast channels with an antenna connected to the tv
