make sure the SD card is not upside down.

plug the sd card in your commputer and reformat it with fat32 filesystem

My Kyocera phone, Turn phone off or just remove battery.
The SD card is at upper left push lightly upward and the card holder will release.
Insert card and gently push back into place install battery and repower the phone.

There are several possible reasons for this. The Kyocera Rise requires an SD card to be unmounted through the memory option in the settings. If you remove the SD without unmounting, you will receive the error message. The Rise also has several software issues that sometimes cause your SD to stop being read, even while still inserted. The brand isn't important. The 8GB card is an SDHC(secure digital high capacity) card and the smaller one is an SD. Your camera may not be able to use an SDHC card. Try formatting it in the camera before giving up on it.

you need to buy a micro SD card with the sd card adapter and load the music to the card and then you can put the card into the phone and when you load the music player it will update your music library....p.s. it only plays mp3 files

Since this camera is fifteen years old, and is long discontinued, it is unlikely that spares will be available for it. The camera shop gave you the most cost effective advice.
