Kitchenaid stand mixer motor head fell off

IN the middle of making my Easter Lemon Cake, the motor kept running, but the head fell off with the whisk still attached. I turned it off, turned it upside down to try to replace it, and it will not slide back on. What has happened?

You didn't say which model KitchenAid mixer you have. Assuming that it is a tilt-head, and that the metal portion of the motor housing joining it to the base did not break, the Service Manual can be had at:

Not familiar with that model, does it have a pin through the planetary that has vanished? If so it will be in the last cake mixture.

On my Kitchenaid Artisan mixer the 3" silver rod fell out the back. How do I slide back in?

I an sorry but the only Rod in the back of a K45SS is the pivot hinge pin that holds the motor head onto the base. if it fell out then the answer is simple. Turn the mixer upside down and wiggle the base while sliding the pin back in. Once the pin is back in place, there is a set screw in the middle of the shaft that you can see while you are replacing the pin, turn this back down with a flat head screwdriver untill it is firmly against the hinge pin. The culprit of the problem is this set screw. It came loose and allowed your hinge pin to vibrate out and then fall down or fall out as you said. once the set screw is back in place you will be fine. To avoid this problem in the future you might remove the screw entirely and put a drop of "Lock-Tight" on it that will help hold the setscrew in place for a very long time.

Hi there, I was doing cake mixing and turn off

If you can hear the motor spinning and the beater does not spin, the worm gear has probably failed. These fail frequently, specially after using them beyond there designed limits. The motor heats up and the gear, which is a type of plastic or nylon, melts.

The attachment/accessory "screw" fell into my mixer while the beaters were mixing a cake batter. The mixer froze up when it hit the "Screw" and now the unit won't turn on. Did I burn up the motor? Does...

Sounds like a classic case of the gears jumping out of sync. This is an issue that needs to be handled by a repair place or sent back to KitchenAide. The motor on a KitchenAide is very strong and it sounds like when the cap for the accessory fell in it must have somehow gotten jammed, although I really don't see how that would be possible unless there was something else in the mix as well.

Whisk is stuck..can't be removed. what can i do? mixer is kitchen aid c 4. thanks for any suggestions!!

We had this same issue with our KitchenAid Mixer. Whether it is the whisk attachment or the paddle, the problem is that stuff (most likely sugar based) got into the attachment connection area and dried. It seems like a little sugar couldn't possibly glue the attachments to the stand mixer, but it does.

The solution is to turn the mixer on it's side and pour a kettle or two of boiling water on the section that joins the mixer to the attachments. Pour slowly to allow boiling water to penetrate grooves. Wiggle a little, pour more water, repeat... that should allow you to get it off.

In the future make sure to soak the attachments in boiling water every once and a while to allow all the gook to loose. And let it fully dry before reattaching to mixer.

Kitchenaid Classic -Mixer Head wobbles or shakes back and forth

Lay the mixer on its side and look up through the base. You willnotice a small set screw. This holds the pin tight. If the set screw gets loose the pin willl begin to move out and the head will wobble. Simply tighten the set screw. I just did this to my Kitchenaid mixer 10 minutes ago and it now works fine.

KitchenAid Countertop Food Mixer

ok firstly if you have a stand mixer with the lift bowl you have to put a dime on the side of the bowl at the base and see how much clearence is needed to be taken away. if the dime gets moved the mixer is ok. if not take off the flat beater, take out the bowl, and look at the back of the stand. just below the motor about 2 inches you will see a screw. turn it to the left a quarter of a turn. dont over adjust do it slowly. if you have the one that you tilt the head back on do the same thing with the screw up to you get to the adjusting part. the screw will be in a different spot on those mixers. it is located in the neck of the mixer. it is right in the area that tilts back. the dime shouldnt fly around the bowl it should just gently get tapped. and never use the wisk when adjusting always use the flat attachment. and always adjust slowly never over adjust.

Head tilting problem

OK,Where the mixer pivots there is an ajustment screw ( Flat head). Place a dime at the bottom of the bowl and make your adjustment carefully ( quarter turn at a time).Using the low speed only, adjust until the tip of the flat beater barely touches the dime. When your done, you'll be back in business.
