SOURCE: I have a yardworks snowblower

It is very possible that improper storage has left residue in your fuel system causing restriction of fuel supply. answer these questions and get a better answer. 1. Do you have to use partial choke or have to continually prime your engine to keep it running. 2. Look for physical damage to shutdown switch button or key switch wire. If this wire comes in contact with any metal surface other than its intended contact, usually near the engine. 3. Finally use an additive in your fuel system that attacks varnish such as carb and choke cleaner. In many severe cases your fuel system may need to be serviced by a professional familiar with the teardown and inspection of the fuel system. Good start though by changing your plug and fuel line antifreeze. As far as fuel stabilizers go I have been told but am still a novice when it comes to fuels that contain ethanol as I have heard that they may not have a very long shelf life. A few tips from an old ag. tech. Gods Speed to you! P.S. If this is a 2 cycle engine their are other things to consider.

SOURCE: we have a yardworks snowblower and when not using the wheels always lock up. how do you unlock them without turning on snowblower.

Had the same issue and found out that the wheels lock when the motor isn't running and the accelerator handle is engaged. I still had both handles tied down from transporting home and it rolled fine after they were untied. Hope that helps

Yardworks snow blower

Leaks are normally from bad seals or ones put on engine wrong. Many snow blowers leak oil, very common. Electric start needs to be taken apart. Rust is problem most likely. When you engage the starter it kicks out the gear to turn over engine. Carefully remove the starter from engine, try to start starter an if the pinion gear does not kick out from starter disassembly it an try to clean rust away from action. Dont break wires around electric motor careful about getting dirt an rust in winding. Try to lube spring an moving parts around gear. One other thing it could be a sheared off gear on starter also.

Yardworks snowblower will not start with electric cord and to hard to crank

too hard to pull may indicate that it is hydrolocked. Fuel from the carb may have leaked into and filled the crankcase. Check the oil level and see if it is very very high. Watch out! The fuel makes the oil level very hard to see. If the oil is filled with gas than not being able to start is a good thing. The motor wont get enough protection from wear with that much gas watering it down! If the oil is watering down then drain it out and get some fresh oil. Make sure you turn off the gas between uses to prevent the carb from dumping fuel. Get the carb serviced to fix the problem too.

Auger stopprd working on an MTD snowblower.

The manual has a step by step procedure for adjusting the cables for the auger, speed selector and drivewheels. One socket wrench and about 10 min should do it.

My Yardworks is an MTD product and it's manual should be similar to yours. If you lost it, you can download it from MTD's site.
