Sears craftsman air compressor model 919.153160 will pump to 150psi but is leaking when it is pumping it will shut off at 150psi but then struggles to restart (tries several times before it does start).

Loosing line a little bit going into tank and see it the pressure continues to come out if so, you might want to consider replacing the check valve. It is designed to keep the pressures in the tank and when they leak off it causes back pressure on the motor making it hard to restart...hope that helps.

The pump used on your compressor was incorporated into different designs thus needed access to oil fill from one side or the other. Part number for oil plug was std-220 or 27642, but you can use just regular standard pipe thread plug with square head. If the oil plug fits the other hole. Buy plumbing parts at Lowes. Good Luck

I have an 80 gal Craftsman air compressor who just shut down, the pressure is dropping, it made a smoke smell and it blew my circuit breaker. I tried starting my circuit breaker but it kept flipping off....

Usually related to the in-tank check valve. Follow the discharge hose from the pump to the tank. At the tank the hose attaches to a brass valve (or metal valve). This brass fitting is the check valve. It's purpose is to hold air in the tank and not allow the air to load the compressor when motor is trying to start. Easy to test. Use another compressor to pump air into your tank thru the quick disconnect or remove the safety valve and install hose there. Pump in about 75 psi and looks for leaks with soapy water. Remove air inlet hose from check valve and check for air leaks. If leaking, replace with generic valve available at www.grainger.com or order from sears parts. If no leaks then suspect unloader is not working at the pressure switch. If both the unloader and check valve is ok then test capacitor for reading within 95% of rated valve. Good holidays

I have a craftsman professional twin cylinder 240 volt air compressor model #919.184191. It has a tube running from the tank to the switch and it is blowing air out where the tube connects to the switch....

Leaking in-tank check valve will cause air to continually leak out of unloader valve at pressure switch. Remove brass/steel fitting at tank and check seat for debris or replace as needed. You can use generic valve just watch fitting sizes. Available at www.grainger.com. Good luck

Sears Craftsman 919.167312 Leaking Air

http://www.searspartsdirect.com/model-number/919167312/0247/0703000.html Model 919167312 CRAFTSMAN AIR COMPRESSOR Parts . It is part 24 or 24a. The female threaded fitting is part of tank. Take the drain valve to a machine shop and have them tell what is the size and tpi. Have the chase the tank female fitting. I f don't want to that once you diameter and tpi you can buy a tape and chase it yourself. Word of warning if you start the tap crooked you will cut new threads and the tank is worthless. I wouuld pay the machine shop and be satisfied.

AIR LEAK ON CRAFTSMAN AIR COMPRESSOR, 3HP,25 GAL, HORIZ TANK

The needle valve that you see is the unloader which releases air pressure from the discharge line after set pressure is obtained. If air continues to leak after the compressor shuts off, the check valve installed in the tank is leaking air out of the tank. Follow the air discharge line from the compressor to the tank. There you will find a brass valve which is the check valve. Simple test is to remove the smaller airline (1/4") from the brass valve and check for air leaking. If leaking remove brass valve and check for debris under the white seat. If you cannot clean the valve, replace with generic check valve from www.grainger.com. It will cost less than factory part. Just order the valve considering the fitting sizes that you need. For exact replacement,( www.sears.com parts). If you sears model # begins with WL then your compressor is made by campbell hausfeld and parts may be ordered from www.chpower.com. Good Luck with you repair and email if you have more questions.

Need to replace drain valve

The "welded nut" is the pipe fitting into which the drain valve or drain plug is screwed. It's usually brass and the valve or plug can be obtained through Sears or possibly and good harwarde store. Be sure to use pipe sealing compound or teflon tape on the threads when you re-install the valve or plug.

NOTE - THE AIR MUST BE DRAINED FROM THE TANK BEFORE REMOVING THE VALVE OR PLUG. ALSO, POWER SHOULD BE DISCONNECTED FROM THE COMPRESSOR!
