HI, check the following to address this issue.

1. No power to the dryer
Make sure there's power getting to the dryer. Check for a tripped circuit breaker or a blown fuse. Check the wall socket for power with a voltmeter or by plugging something else in.

2. Door switch / Door switch actuator lever
The dryer will not start with a broken door switch. Replace the door switch if found defective.

Most dryers have a door switch actuator lever - when you close a dryer door, it presses against the lever, which actuates the door switch. If the lever is broken, the switch would not activate and the dryer would not start. Replace the lever, if broken.

Note: Door switch actuator lever usually comes with the door switch assembly and it is recommended to get the whole assembly since there is almost no price difference between the door switch assembly and just the lever. Check your model for more details.

3. Thermal fuse
Most dryers have a thermal fuse, which burns out when the dryer overheats, in which case the dryer will either not run at all or stop heating. The fuse is usually located on the vent duct, inside the dryer. A blown fuse will show no continuity when measured with a meter. Before replacing the fuse, make sure the blower wheel is not broken or clogged, and there is nothing blocking the venting.

Note: It is recommended by most dryer manufacturers to replace a hi-limit thermostat when replacing a thermal fuse.

4. Timer
Replace if defective (note: uncommon problem).

**The most common issue here will be a defective Thermal fuse

Maytag dryer wouldn't start. Model number is: mde9700ayw. Problem: Although dryer was set to warm/cold dryer dried the clothes on extreme high temperature. For the second load of clothes, dryer couldn't...

HELLO THERE
I would have the board tested first and if it does indeed test out good than please try these things.

Door switch If the door switch or the door-switch actuator is defective, the dryer won't work and you need to replace the failed component. The switch is inside the dryer main housing near the door frame. Sometimes you need to raise or open the top or front of the dryer to reach the switch. Thermal fuse On many dryers, there's a thermal fuse (a heat-sensitive fuse that blows if the dryer overheats) mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel. The fuse is about an inch long. It's usually embedded in black resin and mounted in a white plastic housing.

If the fuse has blown, it has no continuity. When this happens, your dryer either just stops heating, or it doesn't work at all. Be sure to inspect the venting/heating system before replacing the fuse to put the dryer back into operation. (You can't re-set this type of fuse.)
Wiring Often the main wiring connection from the house, at the dryer, burns and the connection breaks. In this has happened to your dryer, you need to replace the power cord and the terminal block inside the dryer to which the wire is attached.

you nead the unplug the dryer and pull the dryer away from the wall to get to the back panal.next remove the vent hosefrom the dryer.next remove the back panal and the power cord cover.if you look down and to the left you will see a white plastic thermal fuse.remove the wires from the fuse and check that it is closed.if it is open the replace the fuse and reassemble dryer.

The control panal comes on but when you push the start button the motor does not come on

If a dryer is not working at all that's not good! But it doesn't mean you need to go appliance shopping just yet. It may be something very simple like a bad door switch or even a broken door switch actuator, in a kenmore dryer there is a tab thats sticks out of a hole in the wall that allows the dryer to run only if the door is shut, other models may have button that protrudes out of the dryer and when the door is shut, this allows the dryer to run. These switches go out from time to time, also if a dryer is full of lint build-up over time this will cause the dryer high limit or fuse to blow. The fuse is located near where the blower is in most cases. When the air in the dryer gets way too hot the fuse/hi-limit will blow and the house wont burn down.

Dryer not working

How do you know the belt is on? Did you take the unit apart? Maybe a connection to the control knob came off. Otherwise:

1) Check the breaker to see if it has been tripped
2) Dryer plugged in
3) dryer door securly closed
4) if your unit is a single knob with various dryer settings, try a different setting (delicate, permanent press, etc)
5) if your unit has a start button, set the knob to the desired setting first, then press start.

Bad control panel. Replace the control panel at repairclinic.com. When your control panel clicks like that it means that a resistor or solder joint has gone bad and it is cheaper and easier to just replace the board

I hate to tell you this, but it is probably the timer. The good news is that it is easy to replace and you don't have to have a tech to do it.
