SOURCE: grease fittings

You can drive the front tires up on a set of tire ramps and grease the front and then drive the rear tires up on the ramps and grease the rear.

OR just lay on the floor and reach under using a grease gun with a flexible delivery hose.

If you do use a jack just be sure to jack on the frame of the tractor as opposed to any sheet metal.

SOURCE: what engines will fit craftsman dyt 4000 (18.5 blew w/ 290 hours)

Hi there
The only thing you have to do is have the size (diameter) and lenght (from cranckcase to end of shaft) of the shaft you have on your b&s and just go to your local Honda dealer , give them your shaft size and they should be able to give you all the options for a brand new motor . I really believe you can get a Honda 20hp model GXV620 or a 24hp model GXV670 that will replace your B & S motor .
Hope this help .

SOURCE: Instructions for fixing the choke on a Craftsman LT-1000 lawn tra

I have been hearing alot of this problem. Well it is gravity flow. I just bought a 2002 lt1000 17 hp without a carb the guy was having the same problem so he sent the carb away to get checked out and low and behold it got lost. He waited the summer to see if it would show up but it did not. He got mad and bought a new bigger one. Any ways i am waiting on a new one. Now in my reading these problems i discovered that the fuel line coming out of the tank to the carb is lower. Might be somthing to look at. JIM

I have a Sears YT 4500 Lawn Tractor. How do I straighten the front tires. One points left and one points right. I can't find an adjustment on the tractor

Craftsman makes a wonderful mower for the money. I've had 2. Until a couple years ago, however, they all had a huge problem - the front axles on these mowers were not cast-iron like the better, more expensive mowers. Accordingly, if you did something to put the front wheels/axle in a serious bind (like catch a tire on a good size rock or building corner with the wheels turned and while backing up and looking backwards), you may have seriously damaged the front axle. Sometimes that can be corrected with placing bushings in there if it's not too bad, but from what you describe it sounds like you've blown up the front axle. That's why your front wheels are going in different directions. Next thing: awful noises and inability to steer properly. I blew out front axles on 2 Craftsman mowers and repaired each of them before buying machines with cast-iron axles - Cub Cadet, John Deere. As I recall, about $235 each time.Got tired of it! The good news is that now Craftsman is putting cast -iron axles on most all of their higher end tractors. You'll need to have this done professionally if you want to keep or sell the machine. Then, go with a good, strong cast-iron axle. You can't adjust this problem. Sorry, friend. . .

Can t turn stearing left or right takes all my strength to turn

check out the steering connecting rod. its the rod that goes from left to right front wheels. if it is not completely straight, either bend it straight or buy a new one.
Also, could be your front axle if you dont have the cast iron heavy duty axle.

Will an engine from a LT1000 fit into a LT2000 tractor? Jim

You should have no problem getting the engine from a LT 1000 to fit in place of the original on a LT 2000. The physical space between the two mowers should be identical.

Can't get front wheel back on lawn tractor Craftsman 52-inch

Make sure you are putting the wheel on the right way. The rim may be off-set. The longer part of the hub should be on the inside.

Cutting cast iron soil pipe

Phil, I recommend a ratchet snap cutter as it will allow you to cut the pipe in a clean manner. These are available for rent at most major home improvement stores in the US. One can also rent one at a tool rental company. I rented mine for $35.00 the bulk of which was a deposit on the tool. Just a reminder when buying the coupling device ensure you ask for or get a 4 inch cast iron to 4 inch PVC coupling. A bit of vaseline will help you get the neoprene coupling to seat properly with the PVC if you encouter resistance. Good luck. If you need more assistance let me know.
