Question about Magellan GPS
I can see multiple (8 or more) satellite data. I can see the cursor move slightly as it is jumps to another satellite. The heading mode is stuck at the power on geographical location. Unit was unused for several years. I mounted it in my car and it worked perfectly for days before quitting. No actions associated with the failure of the GPS. I have tested it powered by both AC line charger, car power, and internal power. Same results from all three power sources. Could an old battery be pulling down the available voltage to the motherboard? It seems to just barely function at times. I did simulate a route and the screen map display moved as it should, so the display and its associated drivers are working correctly. Something seems to be wrong with the satellite position calculations. What SNR values from the satellites should one expect? The original battery is fully charged - all green bars. Taking the GPS to a new location and cycling the reset function will display the new location but it then remains frozen there. I don't mind changing the battery if you think it could be to culprit.
