    The pulse on my phone turned on when i storm came through. How do i get my phone back to touch tone?

    My * key is still not working. When I try to put in the: feature **266344, Password: RETRY comes up. Which doesnt aloow me to do anything. Why is this? What do i need to do?

    The star key will not go through on any of the phones in the office. When I press the star key the dial tone continues. I talked to a phone service guy over the phone and he told me to press a button and said that the pulse was one. But when I put in the code on pg. 147 the password: RETRY comes up.

I spoke with a telephone repair guy and he asked me to press a number over the phone and he said that the pulse is on.     I am trying to turn off the pulse and put the phone back on touch tone so that i can use the star key. When I press the feature button and the code, Password: RETRY comes up.

    I found the manual for the phone. It tells me to put in the feature key then **266344 and when password RETRY comes up put in 23646. But when I try to put in the 23646 it stays on the password RETRY where i cant put in the numbers. What do i need to do?

    I found the password and got into the system programming, but the manual tells me to put in the feature button then **266344. Then type in password. The configuration page then comes up as A. Configuration. I push show and 1. trk/line date is on the screen. I push show again and Show line:_ with the wor COPY under it shows up. The next step on the manual says 2. Enterfrom the dial pad. When I try to push any button nothing comes up. Please help me resolve this problem.

More then likely there is dirt or something that is preventing it from making contact so that it registers the star button being hit. If the button is albe to be popped off you can check it that way. If the button can not be removed try spraying some air underneath it. (You can get the air in a can from most stores that sell computer items.) As a last resort remove the top cover and clean the key pad with a q-tip dipped in alcohol and let it dry thoroughly and then replace the top. I hope this helps.

Does this affect all phones or just the one? Try plugging a phone that works into the jack where the one is broken. Can you use the "*" button?

It could also be that the system lost programming and has been set to pulse, and not tone for the lines.

    So, is it just on the 1 phone? have you tried a new phone there? This might not be a "Star" issue, as now you are saying that the password is coming up invalid.

    Please clarify what the problem actually is.

    What are you trying to do? Get into system programming?
    WHAT SYSTEM IS THIS?

    If you are trying to access system programming, you should be pressing
    FEATURE **266344 then the password. Is this what you are trying to do?

    You will need the system admin password. If you do not have this, you will need to call in a pro, as this should not be given out on a public forum.

    As stated earlier. Someone changed your password, you need to find the password, or you can not do any programming.

Is this happening on only one phone? Is there any tone on the phone when you press the button? This button may be broken and needs replacing. You can call 1-800-4-NORTEL to see what they will do for you, whether they can send you a button or direct you to a dealer. if that is the problem. Please be more specific in any future replies so I can better help you. Let me know how this turns out.

All of a sudden the line lights on our nortel switch Meridian M7310 phones started blinking and the lines are dead. Any ideas?


If you only have one line,why not just lose the Nortel system? You can reuse the wiring from the phone sets to the contoller as regular inside wire,and just plug in regular phones(and maybe put the Nortel phones and controller on EBay and make a few bucks off it!)

Feature 981. Then enter password, default is 0000.
To program a button to do this, 1. Press Feature * 3 2. Push the button you want to program
3. Press the Feature button then enter the Feature Code 981.

Unfortunatly Nortel system phones cannot work wireless with the exception of thier wireless set which still require a jack/port for the base unit.

Program a new Nortel m7310 phone with an existing extension


If the extension was a swap of the old M7310 with a new(ish) M7310 no additional programming should be necessary. However if the phone was replaced with another type of nortel set(M7208, M7324,T7313 etc.) then the phone will default to its base features. To re-program the feature keys press feature *3, the button you wish to program, and the feature code for that button

1. Enter Feature 983
2. The display will show "LOG", enter your login password

a. If your company extensions are 2 digits long enter "120000"
b. If your company extensions are 3 digits long enter "1020000"
c. If your company extensions are 4 digits long enter "10020000"
