Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

SOURCE: I had a party last

If you have little kids the center of a tweeter is the perfect place to poke, And wow it dents just like that. Hears a tip. Get some black electrical tape and cut a piece just big enough to fit on the dent, leave a tail piece to hold on to, Then with a quick yank pull the tape directly toward you. this in most cases will pull the dent out clean. There are some cases where leaving the dent may cause distortion in the first harmonic however this is very small so the dent though ugly , presents no problem. THE GREAT OZ.

No sound from Celestion F20 subwoofer. Tweeter is OK, and so is the other speaker in the pair. Wiring OK as switched speakers around to test.

Since these can be bi-amped or bi-wired (and you don't indicate if that is the case) you need to make sure the jumpers are secure (see the last picture http://archiwumallegro.pl/celestion_f20-1062028198.html) or (if the jumpers are removed) that you have viable amplifier signals coming to each speaker within the cabinet.

Musical fidelity amp x-a2, one channel intermittent crackling / fading out, any ideas?! Tried swapping source and speakers... Many thanks -chris

hi,
This problem will occur when any one of the driver transistor is become faulty. You have to replace all the driver transistor of the same channel which make cracking sound . It is very difficult to tell which one is faulty. Because if you check the transistors with multimeter it will be ok. Replace all the driver transistor in that channel with same part number marked on it. The driver transistors will look like this,

Tweeter not working

Check the continuity of the removed tweeter with a VOM meter (I use an original Heatkit MM-1 available on eBay for $20) and do the 1.5 volt battery click & scratch test mentioned above.

Celestion A3 tweeters (also used in the A1 and A2 speakers) or the replacement diaphragms are no longer available from Celestion. A1 speakers show up regularly on the United Kingdom eBay website for $300 or less and are small enough to economically ship to the USA. You would also end up with a midrange spare speaker (assuming it is the same as in the A3 cabinets)

The part number for the A series 3 bar tweeter is T4969/P. The 3 bars refers to the 3 bars in the casting to protect the dome. I got this number from the box of my spare tweeter I have the earlier 1 bar castings in my A3's.

Go to www.ersatzteil-versand.at do an "artikelsuche" (article search) for the number T4969/P and something extremeley similar shows up except that they list the manufacturer as Onkyo. The part number and description are so similar to what is printed on my spare tweeter box it would be worth 81 euros to see what shows up.
I have designed an adapter plate for either a Scan-Speak Revelator Tweeter D2904/710002 4 ohm, 1" soft dome, 70 mm diameter magnet, $220 or a Vifa D27TG35-06 6 ohms, 72 mm diameter magnet, 91 db, $37.50..Both are available from:
http://www.speakercity.com/ in Burbank, CA

I only modeled the front flange of the tweeter to save time. I have not built any of these yet but the price would probably be $400 for a pair of adapter plates and speaker flange modifications. But when you are done you would have replaceable tweeter for a long time to come. The 2 protective bars are drawer handles available for $3 each.

Other possibilities are:
http://www.audioloudspeakers.co.uk/boultons.shtml voice coil rewinding in the uk

http://www.speaker-repairs.com.au/coils.htm voice coil rewinding in australia

http://www.speakerex.com/diaphragms_new.html in Florida can rebuild the woofer and replace the midrange but no longer have the 4 ohm diaphragm for the tweeter.

If you want the drawings (and 3D geometry file necessary for the machinist to make the curved edges) for the adapter plate and tweeter flange modification contact me at mercedes280se-4@yahoo.com

Clestion S10 Sub not working

Instead of connecting it to the sub output, try it on the L or R output of your amp.
This will eliminate the Denon.
If this fails, you need to test the loudspeaker driver unit whilst disconnected from the sub amp. Use a 1.5v cell (AA or bigger) connect using croc leads to the speaker's terminals. If the speaker is OK, you should hear a click. If you hear nothing, the speaker unit is faulty.

Tweeters poked to death

I know this sounds silly, but I had the same problem. Your speakers have a little plastic bulb that has been pushed in, right?

If so, simply put your mouth up to the tweeter, seal with your lips and **** gently (seriously). The tweeter dome should pop back out and in to shape.

It worked for me.

Good luck.

Kenwood LPS 5000D

Hi cw10k

Thats odd. The only passive radiators I have seen over the years have been the same size as the bass driver. They need to be this way to provide the correct tracking of the bass driver. Your speakers sound more like a a 3 way system that may have been modded. Unfortunately they pre-date the internet by the looks of it :) I cant find any info for them, and from my recollection. Kenwood never made anything notable in loudspeakers. I suggest checking the crossover of the speakers to see if they look original, or if indeed they are 3 ways. If there is only a capacitor to the tweeter, then they were never meant to be performance loudspeakers, and probably came with a system of sorts. Keeping in mind the cost of replacement drivers to do upgrades to this sort of gear, may make them uneconomic to repair or upgrade. In Australia(they do deliver world wide) you can get passive radiators from Speaker Bits
Got any thoughts on that. :)

robotek
