I am trying to reset my combination on a wordlock bike lock. It has 4 letters.

Hold the lock so that the letters are all upright. Pull the cable out of the lock. On the right hand side you will see a 1/4 inch aluminum piece that protrudes beyond the last letter. That aluminum piece has two flat sides so that you can grab it and twist it. Twist that piece 1/4-turn away from you.
At this point you can now change the letters to set the new combination. Move the letters around so that the 4 letters you want to use to open the lock are inline with the mark that is on the the silver ring (just to the left of the left-most letter).
Now, twist the aluminum piece 1/4-turn back towards you (back to its original position).
Your lock combination is now reset with the new letters you chose.

I have a wordlock bike-lock how do i reset the combination for it?

Open it using your current code. Using a coin or screwdriver in the notch on the end cap, turn cap clockwise to the diagonal position. Line up your new letters/code then turn the cap back to the vertical, done!

You can't reset it if it is currently locked together. You have to try to "crack" the combination.

The lock must be open to reset it. I can't really provide information on how to open the lock in a public forum.

Unless you know the code, it will be difficult to open it. Best bet is to cut the lock.
