External hdd converted to RAW not readable

You will lose all data on this disk using this solution. That is your warning. You did not provide the OS that you are running, so I will assume it is something in the Windows family. Open disk manager and select the external hd. Delete the partitions. Create one large new partition. Format said partition using appropriate filesysetm. If formatting hangs or fails, try it on another machine. If it fails, you could try diagnostics that came with the disk. However, if it fails on two separate machine, I would us it for target practice and get a new one.

Recovering memory stick data can be tough, you can try recuva ( This is a very good tool for recovering data, it includes a quick scan and a deep scan.

If the recovery works or you decide the data doesn't matter or you wish to use the card again, then to format it (this will delete EVERYTHING on the card) for normal use then the HP USB disk storage format tool is the best for this, I know it says USB, but it works for cards too:
Be careful when using this tool, ensure you have the correct drive letter selected.

Hi, I get an Error Ox80070571, how do I fix this? Disk appears to be damaged, how to repair it, Win Vista DSKCHK repair does not work after file 227.600 (or thereabouts). Claims not enough space, but...

Hi, The error you getting means that windows can't access information thats stored on your hard disk. The fact that it seem that CHKDSK is failing to complete a scan means that you are looking at a broken hard drive. Try running: chkdsk /r in your command prompt. This will tell CHKDSK to find bad sectors and recover any and all readable information on the disk. After you have recovered all the information, back it up to another hard drive and perform a full format of the disk. The disk should be usable after that as the bad sectors will be marked and nothing will be written to those sectors. If you do find any further problems thou it will be time to replace the drive.

I have a error 0f00:75D. What is the cause?

Goto start then run type cmd press return

type chkdsk c: /r

To repair errors, locate bad sectors, and recover readable information, at the command prompt, type chkdsk volume:/r, and then press ENTER.
f one or more of the files on the hard disk are open, you will receive the following message: Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another process. Would you like to schedule this volume to be checked the next time the system restarts? (Y/N)
Type Y, and then press ENTER to schedule the disk check, and then restart your computer to start the disk check.

Getting the error 0x4001100200001005 while performing the recovery

The HP site indicates that the error refers to the Disks that you are trying to use to recover the system.
If you have access to the recovery partition, then try the restore from there.
Normally, the restore has a media option and a hard disk option. The media option is dependent on the discs you ceated. If those disks are scratched, dirty or in any way not readable, you will get this error. Yoiu can retry the install and see if it resolv3es itself

What is error code ox4001100200001005 on an HP entertainment latop pc I get this when I am trying to recover from either the CD or HDD. Thanks

Try cleaning the CD DVD drive and insert the restoration disk.
Restart the unit with the disk inserted.
If the disk is un-readable, it will not restore.

Have stop error 0x00000024 Did a system scan as directed by dell but everything passed. What else could be wrong? I have 10 gig of iTunes & important files not backed up :( How do fix this without...

This is a nasty error code and can be a pain to fix and recover your data. You get this error when your hard drive have bad sectors and/or you are missing NTFS boot files.

Try this for recovery and repair:

If you have the XP cd, insert it in your pc, boot up and go to the Console Recovery sections. Once in, type this at the command line:

chkdsk c: /p /r

This will check your hard drive and correct bad sectors AND recover any readable information from the bad sectors.

If you don't have the XP disk, you will need to take the hard drive out, connect it to another pc (desktop) as a second drive and run the check disk command.

Good luck,

From your description of the issue, the most likely senario is a hard drive failure. Replacement hard drives run $50 to 100 or so and are generally fairly easy to change

I have a compaq presario 5900T. It will not boot up past the windows logo. A stop error comes up that says inaccessible_boot_device. I can't find my quick restore disks. Help

this symptom may need more of a factory repair for your hdisk. but to confirm that, what i normally do in such cases to be able to recover the data i need if still readable, i remove the hdisk and use it in an external drive (USB) see if it is able to read the disk. In most cases, only the OS is corrupted. if that is so then you need to get your recovery disk that came along with your PC and re-install only.
