What can I buy to extend the headphone socket.my telly is hung on a wall.and the headphone socket is about 6 inches in from the side of the telly.and being an invalid.this is very awkwardi need to ext

Sorry, but you are asking the impossible thing.
Headphone sockets are made, to mute the main sound on every device they are on, when something is inserted.
You can't change that by plugging in anything else. The only way around is a tech who opens the TV, and does a modification internal. He / she must know what to be done, or else the TV will be damaged. I think I could manage it, but Sorry I don't do house calls. Only from my home behind the computer.

I have bought several pairs of headphones for my gogear but they all sound like there is a problem with the connection only getting sound through one ear sometimes

The headphone socket in the GoGear is faulty. If you can hear sounds from both ear pieces when you wriggle the headphone plug in the GoGear, then the headphone socket in the GoGear is faulty. This fault can be easily fixed by removing the circuit board in the GoGear and resoldering the headphone socket to the circuit. You need a very fine tipped temperature soldering iron to do this job.

Yamaha CP 300 broken headphone jack

Some keyboards use the amp output sockets for headphone use.
You might need some adapters for your headphones.
If it fell in, you would see an empty hole. This would be unlikely because it is held on by two screws. If all fails, buy an amp with a headphone jack input. Plug the keyboard into the amp and use the amps jack.

When I plug in a headphone from the jack in the back the sound still comes out the speakers not the headpone. Element fxl-1910

Is your Headphones ok - Have you tried them on something else?

Is the plug on the headphones of the correct type and size?

If you mute the TV or turn down the volume - does this affect the headphone volume?

Also, Do you get sound out of the Headphones at the same time as the speakers?

If the above checks out to be OK - You may have a faulty Headphone socket in the TV.

Normally when you push headphones into a TV it usually pushes a piece of Metal in the head phone socket that disengages the speakers
The socket can go faulty

If I jiggle the cord in the stereo outliet, the sound switches from left to right earpiece and has to be just right in the outlet to get both earpieces working at the same time.

If you plug the headphones into another device do they stay on solid?
The problem can be the cord/plug (headphones) or the socket which your plugging into. Socket might need re-soldered or replaced.

Sound works fine but when i plug in headphones,it doesnt come through the headphones,i have tested the phones on other stuff they are fine??????

What sort of receiver is it? I have seen many headphone sockets fail from having a mud wasp nesting inside the socket. It is perfect for them, and hard to detect sometimes, just a socket full of dirt. and a crappy feel to the plug socket combo. Sometimes the sockets also get damaged from plugs being wrenched out by forgetful teenagers, or a gumby walkby picking up the cord doing same. Anyways, if you are getting audio out of the amp, and the H/P are ok, it can only really be a faulty socket. It will need to be replaced. SOMETIMES headphones ahve inline resistors fitted also. They may have been burned out. ChecGood luck
