Wont start after pushing start button

If the door switch or the door-switch actuator is defective, the dryer won't work and you need to replace the failed component. The switch is inside the dryer main housing near the door frame. Sometimes you need to raise or open the top or front of the dryer to reach the switch.

Dryer won't start.

Hi- Could be any of a few problems. Open the door and look for a door switch. It will be a lever at the top of the frame where the door closes. Press the switch and see if it clicks. If you just see a hole at the top of the door enclosure then the lever has broken off and the switch need to be replaced. If you hear a noise when you try to start the dryer (like it's trying to start) then you may have a bad motor or something stuck in the blower wheel. As well, the actual start switch may be bad. Also, you may only be getting 110v (if it is an electric) and you need 220v for it to run. Probably best to call a Tech.

The "push to start dryer" button does not start the dryer when pushed. It quit working after doing a usual load. I removed the back cover to reveal the connections and vacuumed off the dust...it all looks...

Check the circuit breaker first to make sure you have power. There is a micro switch on the door to stop the dryer when you open the door during normal operation. Unplug the dryer and locate the switch by visually inspecting around the door and identify if you can remove the switch without opening the dryer top. If you cannot remove the switch from the front you can access the switch by lifting the top of the dryer cover off. Most dryers have clips in the front which allow you to lift the top cover by pulling forward and lifting up or you can use a non marring tool to push the clip in then lift the top up. Unplug one of the wires on the door switch and touch the connector to the other connector using electrical tape to insulate and hold it in place. Plug the dryer in and push the start switch to see if it works. If it does you need to order and replace the door switch. If it does not, the start switch could be bad and you will need to test it with an ohm meter which will be the safest way to test the switch, or you can touch the two switch wires together to see if the dryer starts. To stop the dryer remove the short on the door switch.

Lid switch ultimate care II whirlpool

Actually, you may not need to replace the switch, just tighten its mount. It sounds like it's loose and the door/lid is not engaging it "soon enough".

Whirlpool electric dryer will not start Model # LER6644DQO

HI, check the following to address this issue.

1. No power to the dryer
Make sure there's power getting to the dryer. Check for a tripped circuit breaker or a blown fuse. Check the wall socket for power with a voltmeter or by plugging something else in.

2. Door switch / Door switch actuator lever
The dryer will not start with a broken door switch. Replace the door switch if found defective.

Most dryers have a door switch actuator lever - when you close a dryer door, it presses against the lever, which actuates the door switch. If the lever is broken, the switch would not activate and the dryer would not start. Replace the lever, if broken.

Note: Door switch actuator lever usually comes with the door switch assembly and it is recommended to get the whole assembly since there is almost no price difference between the door switch assembly and just the lever. Check your model for more details.

3. Thermal fuse
Most dryers have a thermal fuse, which burns out when the dryer overheats, in which case the dryer will either not run at all or stop heating. The fuse is usually located on the vent duct, inside the dryer. A blown fuse will show no continuity when measured with a meter. Before replacing the fuse, make sure the blower wheel is not broken or clogged, and there is nothing blocking the venting.

Note: It is recommended by most dryer manufacturers to replace a hi-limit thermostat when replacing a thermal fuse.

4. Timer
Replace if defective (note: uncommon problem).

**The most common issue here will be a defective Thermal fuse

Won't start - 3 beeps when Start button pushed

CHECK THE FOLLOWING--

1. No power to the dryer
Make sure there's power getting to the dryer. Check for a tripped circuit breaker or a blown fuse. Check the wall socket for power with a voltmeter or by plugging something else in. Sometimes the power cord disconnects or burns at the dryer, if this is the case, the wiring and the terminal block must be repaired or replaced.

2. Door switch / Door switch actuator lever
The dryer would not start with a broken door switch. Replace the door switch if found defective.

Most dryers have a door switch actuator lever - when you close a dryer door, it presses against the lever, which actuates the door switch. If the lever is broken, the switch would not activate and the dryer would not start. Replace the lever, if broken.
