the problem is most likely a thermal fuse, located in the freezer on the evaporator, has blown. The lights on are indicating an error code. If you unplug the unit and then replug it, it will run until it hits the defrost cycle. This will at least keep your food cold until you can get service.

SOURCE: I have a LG refregerator.Two
the water is from defrosting coil in rear of freezer and there is a drain pan under coil to make water drain to pan under unit where it evaporates from compressor heat.possible cause for water not going where it is supposed to is drain is clogged with foreign matter or frozen shut.I would suggest checking door gasket seals if you are getting this often moisture is getting in and causing lots of frost for unit to deal with and could lead to a repetitive problem.

SOURCE: fridge LG GR-2985QF with bottom
The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. Make sure this fan is running. You may have to hold the door switch in for it to run. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp.
The problem could be the electronic control if you have one or the mechanical linkages.
If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air and eventually affect the freezer too.
check defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat. In most newer models the timer has been replaced by an electronic control board. If the heater and thermostat are ok it'll be the control.

SOURCE: I have an LG ref
Furthermore, I have left it open/unplugged and thoroughly defrosted it, and it worked fine except when it defrosted water would run from the rear of the fridge (past the lights) and run out from the fridge to the kitchen floor. It is not accumulating in the rear compartment.
