My 2007 ford Freestar squeals every time I accelerate

sounds like it may be nothing more than a lose belt. have a mechanic check the belt tension. You can check the tension yourself by pressing down on each belt with the engine off. If the belt moves more than an inch or so it should be tightened. Only other explanation would be a transmission slip.

Need to know how to change transmission fluid on cub cadet lt 1045 riding mower

Cub Cadet has five models in their new Series 1000 lawn tractors, all powered by Kohler engines. Cub Cadet models -- as several other lawn equipment brands -- are manufactured by MTD Products.

The Cub Cadet LT 1045 has a 20-hp Kohler single-cylinder engine, with an aluminum block and cast-iron sleeve for longer life. It has a full-pressure lubrication system with spin-on oil filter for easier maintenance. This engine is not as powerful or as long lasting as the Kohler V-Twin OHV, which is available in other models in the line, but the LT 1045's engine is still solid enough to provide years of mowing.

The hydrostatic (automatic) transmission is a good match with the engine and provides sufficient grip to cut grass on moderate inclines. Power is transferred from the engine to the transmission by a heavy-duty Kevlar belt rather than a more expensive shaft drive. A Kevlar belt also drives the three cutting blades.

The mowing deck cuts a swath of grass 46 inches wide at one pass, and is removable for service and cleaning. Four anti-scalping wheels help keep the deck from scalping grass on uneven ground. The cutting height is manually adjusted from 1-1/2 to 4 inches. The turning radius is 18 inches, which standard for lawn tractors. This model is intended for use on 1- to 2-acre lawns without many turns or small obstacles.

My husqvarna mower has quit moving. The engine runs smoothly but when I shift out of neutral, nothing happens. It stopped working suddenly. I have moved the small lever in the back that allows you to...

either the drive belt from the engine to the top of the transmission has broken or gone slack due to a tensioner issue, or the transmission has failed. with the engine NOT running you can put your hand up under the deck and feel the topmost belt, if it is there and snug, then you have a transmission problem and that requires a replacement.

Need to change the alternator on a 2001 sunfire,2.4 engine, how do i do that?

Things You'll Need:
  • Battery terminal wrench
  • Serpentine belt removal tool
  • 3/8-inch ratchet
  • 3/8-inch metric socket set
  1. Turn off the engine and place the transmission in park (automatic) or first gear (manual). Engage the parking brake and open the hood. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery terminal using the battery terminal wrench.

  2. Remove the serpentine belt by inserting the end of the serpentine belt tool into the square hole on the belt tensioner and rotating the removal tool clockwise. Unplug the alternator's electrical connector. Remove the bolt holding the positive voltage cable to the alternator using a 3/8-inch ratchet and a metric socket. Remove the positive voltage cable from the alternator.

  3. Remove the alternator bracket bolts using a metric socket connected to a 3/8-inch ratchet. Remove the alternator from the car. Place the new alternator in the mounting brackets and reinstall the mounting bolts using a 3/8-inch ratchet connected to a metric socket.

  4. Reinstall the positive voltage cable on the alternator and tighten the retaining nut using a 3/8-inch ratchet and a metric socket. Plug in the alternator's electrical connector. Compress the serpentine belt tensioner using the serpentine belt tool. Reinstall the serpentine belt according to the belt-routing diagram located under the hood.

  5. Reconnect the negative cable to the battery using the battery terminal wrench. Start the engine and verify that the alternator works.

Need to replace drive belt, but can't get the front pulley (under engine) off of a Huskee 42" 13AQ698G131

I have the same model and am in the process of replacing the drive belt. To get it on the front (engine) pulley, I had to take out the 4 engine bolts and jack up the engine about 3 inches. Go slow because exhaust manifold is still attached. Once the pulley was about 1/2 inch above the frame plate I was able to slide the belt up through the frame and onto the pulley. Tractor Supply Co said it was a 77 inch belt, but I'm not sure since now I can't get the belt over the fan and around the transmission pully. I'm afraid I'll have to take it off the engine again and put it on the transmission first.
