SOURCE: water dispenser in fridge

Possible problems could a bad water valve (dual valve), bad micro switch which is activated by pressing the button for water to come out. On some models the bracket that holds the micro switch could be broken not allowing the button to activate.

You will probably find that if you have a water filter in your model refrigerator that is is clogged. Replace the filter and voila, good flow again. You probably also have small or hollow or chip ice cubes as well, if your filter is clogged.
To save the cost of the filter you would need to check to make sure you are getting strong water flow to the solenoid valve located in the bottom rear of your refrigerator.
I hope I helped, supertechks

SOURCE: Jenn Air fridge water dispensor stopped working

Hi: You press the switch and it makes a faint humming noise. That tells me the switch on the front panel is ok. The switch for the ice and water is actually on the bottom of the ref. The internal system of the ref is not under city water pressure. Ice is made so that's ok. There is a solenoid where the water attaches to the fridge down below which can fail. Just for giggles try tapping the switch with the plastic handle of a screwdriver. To loosen any scale that might have built up. As I'm unemployed also I'm giving you that trick. Otherwise I would just say replace it. I hope this helps, Jeff

Ice maker not working just changed the filter everything was ok previous to that

Since you didn't provide a model number for your fridge, I can't tell if you have the external water filter set-up or the built-in internal filter. Sooooo, here's a couple of ways to resolve the problem:

You need to connect the filter and run water through it into a bucket, until you flush out any loose carbon, etc. By doing this, you also get out any air from inside the filter and will speed up getting the ice maker making ice again.

You should have a manual water shut off at the back of the fridge where the water line comes from the house water supply. Turn off the water valve and disconnect the filter on the end that goes to the fridge and get a bucket to drain it into. Now turn on the water supply and flush out the filter.

If you have the internal water filter, take it out and check to make sure you removed the small protective cap plug that is installed in the filter. If it's already removed, try using your water dispenser to blend out any air in the system and to clear out any loose carbon bits, etc.

This should be done until you are getting clear water, which usually takes a good 5 minutes and should draw out about a gallon of water.

If you don't have a water dispenser (again, No model number provided, makes it VERY DIFFICULT to zero in on the solution to problems folks!)
You'll just have to wait until your ice maker has called for enough ice cubes to bleed out all the air trapped in the filter, unless you can dunk the new filter into a bowl of cool, clean water in your sink until all the air bubbles stop, then reinstall into the fridge and make sure the ice machine arm is down in the "ON" position.

Hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

This is just anecdotal here, but one repair guy who came out and thawed a frozen line into the icemaker told us the fridge required near-full line pressure 90- or 70- or whatever that is, in order for the ice maker to work. This was a licensed repair guy. We were feeding it with an RO, which only pumped it in at 17 or 20 psi (or whatever the unit is) which he informed us was inadequate. However, after he thawed things out and we changed out the inline carbon filter in the fridge, everything was hunky dory for a couple of years. About a year back, the icemaking stopped, and changing out the carbon filters in the fridge AND in the RO system did the trick.

Now we have a different problem. Things aren't getting or staying cold, especially the fridge. I opened the housing in the back of the fridge, defrosted the extensive ice accumulated around the refridgerant coils, and everything ran great for a couple of days. Now we're back in the global warming pattern: steadily rising temperatures and thawing. I'm not feeling too happy about Jenn-Air these days.
