Does a zama RB 70A carburetorneed to be adjusted after being installed in a Echo PPF 210 pruner?

SOURCE: After rebuild only runs on half choke.Adjusting screw doesn't help

The rebuild you did is correct, but did you clean the small ports in the carb.? I use a Den Tek Brush (used for cleaning teeth). They work great for this job. You may also want to check the small screen in the carb. The smallest of particles can cause this problem.

These small engines are very prone to blocking the spark arrestor in the muffler, or the exhaust port itself, check for heavy carbon deposits here

Make sure you rebuilt the carb with a carb kit. Put a hose on each pipe coming out of the carb and blow and suck on them. One should seal completely and one should provide vacuum. If there is a leak, you need new check valves. If you rotate the trimmer and it runs poorly, you may have a pierced diaphragm.

check the fuel filter to see if its dirty or not under fuel . also you will have to re-tune the carb . or check for compression in the engine it should be at 120 or above you may also want to change the plug

Your machine has a rotary-valve diaphragm type carburetor. These carburetors typically only have an adjustment for the IDLE speed with an available option to control the main jet with an adjustable mixture needle.

Some have a small adjustment needle in the center pivot of the rotory part, under a brass plug...but most have nothing. Many end users and techs are complaining about the non-adjustable carbs. They are made this way to meet the more stringent EPA emissions codes that are getting tougher each year.

My Echo SHC-212 will start and slow idle but when I give it gas it boggs and stalls. I've changed the spark plug and I'm using the proper mix. Any suggestions? I was thinking of trying to clean the carb...


The prior posters must be from the Briggs & Stratton era :0] This is an EPA carb. You can only adjust the idle speed. The Echo SHC-212 uses the Zama RB-K75 carb.

My SHC-212 had the same bogg/stall symptoms. I had to disassemble and clean the carb to get rid of it. There is an internal filter screen that sometimes clogs. I soak and use compressed air to blow out all orifices. But the real problem is leaving ethanol gas in the carb during storage. It warps the delicate gaskets/valves. So buy Zama rebuild kit.

I have a Echo Model PB-251 that when it sits for a day or two the cylinder will fill up with fuel (approximatell 1-2 ounces) once the plug is removed and the gas is dumped out the machine operates normaly


The carburetor is not shutting off the fuel flow. Your blower came equipped with a Zama carb. Series RB #K85. This carb is rebuildable using Zama's rebuild kit RB123. The rebuild kit is available from many sources online for about $10 plus shipping. A replacement carb is also available for about $50 plus shipping. If you choose to rebuild it yourself, be very carefule during dissassembly and take plenty of pictures and notes to know where everything goes. Once you have the carb apart, clean it very well and replace the needle valve. I highly recommend to pressure test the carb after you have overhauled it to make sure it shutting off the fuel flow. It you don't have much mechanical experience, then replacing the carb is your best and quickest option. These parts should also be available at your local Echo dealer. The prices may be slightly higher at the dealer. To have the dealer overhaul your carb is probably about the same cost as replacing the carb yourself.

ECHO BPH755 WON'T GO FULL THROTTLE UNLESS CHOKED


If you have one of the rotary-type, non- adjustable carbs, you may have to install a diaghram kit or rebuild kit as the fuel pump diaghram may need replacing.....otherwise....you may only need to "tweak" the H-speed adjustment screw on this carb. If so, here is how Zama says to do it:

The tool used to adjust these carbs can be found on Ebay and is less than $10 if you don't rig one by your own methods.
