Question about Internet Computers & Internet

Open Question

What is the part number for the defrost timer for the Amana refrigerator model #asd2522wrb06. It's not AP3109394 as I was told on here previously. It looks like W10366605. Please confirm.

I found on the internet that W10366605 looks exactly like the part I need. Can someone confirm compatibility please. Again, it's NOT AP3109394 or 4388932 as was suggested before.

SOURCE: Defrost timer sticking

Your model doesn't have a defrost timer. Everything is controlled by the main motherboard in the back. The ONLY way to get an acurate diagnosis is to call GE FActory Service at 1-800-432-2737. There is proprietary software and the tech will be able to plug in a laptop to your refer to find out what is going on. No other companies have this or have access to this software. By the way that deforst thermostat you think you found isn't what you think it is. It looks like one but it only a saftey device. Trust me...!

SOURCE: Does new defroster timer require adjustment?

there are 3 components in the defrost system that can go bad. timer, defrost thermostat, and defrost heater. since youve already replaced timer that means youve eliminated it as a bad component. the most common defrost system failure is actually the defrost thermostat. moisture will infiltrat into the control and ause it to short out. the way to check it is:

  • unload freezer section
  • remove shelving
  • remove icemaker if applicable
  • remove rear access cover
  • once coil is exposed look for a round disc shaped peice that is attached to the top of the coil and has 2 wires going to it
  • hopefuly the control will still be frozen
  • using a multimeter set to ohms sheck for continuity on the 2 wires that go to control
  • if the control has continuity then you have a bad heater if no cont then bad defrost sensor
  • in alot of cases you will actually see that the control has seperated and come apart and you will not even need a meter.
I hope this helps you out. while you have unit pulled apart and after youv'e diagnosed the problem use a hair dryer to defrost ice build up on the coil. this will get the unit working temporarily until you get a replacement part.  thanks Peyton

SOURCE: I need to know where to find the defrost timer on

I just replace my defrost timer & defrost thermostat. The timer is in the front bottom. Remove the kick plate at the bottom & you should see an orange knob. It takes about 10 min to replace. The thermostat is located in the freezer section. Remove the lower panel. This will expose the cooling coils and the defrost thermostat. Takes about an hour to replace.

I have an Amana side by side refrigerator model ASD2522WRB06. I replaced the filter that is located in the grill at the bottom of the fridge. Now water does not flow at all.

It should work with the filter removed because of a automatic bypass built into Amana refrigerators but sometimes even new filters or copy cat filters will not work at all because they have a defective area where they connect to your water system.

ARS8265 requires frost buildup to be removed from the supply outlet between freezer section and refrigeration section. The doors are opened only briefly but still regular plugging of the outlet. Seems...

The defrost on your model is began by the part=> 67001036 Defrost Timer All of this is hiding behind the controls=> Amana ARS2464BW Side by Side Refrigerator Control Panel Hope not to confuse you but we begin here and sometimes just getting the location is very helpful. I want you to find a hole that may be covered by a plastic plug that leads to the timer control in the photo below. Using a flathead screwdriver I want you to slowly turn the timer clockwise until you hear the compressor and fans stop. This should mark the beginning of forced defrost for your model. This begins the cycle of defrost on your timer that should last about 20 to 25 minutes every 8 hours three times daily. Once defrost starts the defrost heater inside the back wall of freezer should begin to heat up. If your timer does not come out of defrost simply turn clockwise again a little and this will manually get the timer out of defrost Opening the freezer door and listen for the sound of cracking or sizzling. If for some reason you get defrost when you do this then you need to replace the Defrost timer part Number 67001036 Click Here=> Testing Your Defrost Heater That page has your instructions on how to test your defrost heater just click on the tutorial at bottom right of that page. Your Defrost Heater is part number=> 12049801 and the defrost thermostat is part number=> R0131454 If you need to replace the defrost heater always replace the defrost thermostat. In your case the problem is most likely the defrost timer but these steps are the best way to diagose your models defrost problems. I will be here to answer any questions you may have, Thanks, Sea Breeze

The freezer isnt working, it is running not cold enough model number ARB190ZCS

Your model has a simple defrost timer inside fresh food compartment and behind control panel. I would see if I could manually turn the timer clockwise until defrost comes on and compressor stops. If after 25 minutes it does not turn itself back on turn the time again clockwise slowly until it restarts. Part number 67001036 Defrost Timer

Ice is building in the freezer - I can manually defrost but auto doesn't seem to be working. What do I check - is this something I can fix? I'm pretty handy! Thanks! Noel

WHEN YOU JUST DON'T HAVE THE MODEL NUMBER Yes, tere are tings to check but I need the model number to help you bctter .The problem is most likely the defrost timer. I don't have your model number so I am going by what I can find about a Kenmore Elite.
The defrost timer is located most times insid the fresh food compartment and behind theconteol panel. Usually there is a hole that you can put a flathead screwdriver through and slowly turn the timer clockwise until the refrigerator compressor and fans stop. Let it stay like this for about 25 minuites until the compressor restarts. During this time the refrigerator should be in defrost. Open the freezer and listen for crackling and sizzling noise caused by defrost. If the compressor does not restart turn again clockwise and this will restart. If you nee the defrost timer here is a link below.

482493 Defrost Timer

Let me know if this don't work and we will need to go mto step 2, Thanks, Sea Breeze

Refrigerator section on side by side losing cooling

Here is the Amana website with the manuals which should show you where the defrost timer etc. is located. Witht your model number and manual it will be a lot easer

http://shared.whirlpoolcorp.com/product_literature/search.jsp?siteCd=AMA

And yes the defrost timer thermostat and heater are the most likely problem.

Do not let this keep running and running or you may lose your compressor too which means a lot more expense than now.
