Question about Garden

1 Answer

I have a John Deere 160 and I think it is time to clean the carb. I want to do it right, does anyone know of a video I can watch? The engine won't start and it was gradually getting worse. It was starting if I removed the air cleaner but not now. I have replaced the spark plug and the gas filter and checked the timing pin.

John Deere LX277. Engine won't stay running when

I would check the air filter, but I doubt that is the general problem. I would think that would have started the problem, but, You most likely tried to start it "right after you washed it",,,and you might have sucked, (for lack of a better word),,some condensation, "water", into the which case,,,,best scenio,,,,Spray a bit of carb cleaner into the air intake, but only after you clean",air filter" that before. And if that doesn't work,,,,then you would have to clean and drain the water out of the gas,,,,,and carb...............Check the spark plug too, and clean it,,with ethanol in our gas now,,,,,,,,,,,It can really mess with just about car and my lawn mower....are a constant "mess"

How to clean carburetor on John Deere JS36 Lawn mower

Indeed, a dirty carburetor can prevent the John Deere JS36 from starting or running correctly. Mine had this problem. A video that helped:

The video is more in depth than you need but basically shows you what to look for inside the unit. Essentially: Remove the air filter assembly from the carburetor (a couple of bolts). Clamp off the fuel line, disconnect it from the carb. Unbolt the carb from the mower (a few bolts). Disconnect the choke and throttle arms from the top of it. Unscrew the cup from the carb, clean everything out. I used compressed air for all the little fuel channels. Reassemble, reattach.

The left blade on my John Deere LT155 stopped working

Besides the drive belt, there is a timing belt inside the mowing deck. The left blade is run by the timing belt. I imagine the timing belt is broken.

I have a john deere push mower JX85. It is running rough is there an adjustment

It is possible if you cleaned the carb you may have upset something. You could have dirt in the carburetor jet. Also make sure you have the right spark plug and that you have it set properly. Also the right gas. Has anything abnormal happened to this machine? Does it run rough in idle? then advance the idle adjustment.

John deere lt155 lawn tractor shuts off when it gets hot while mowing, could this be electrical?

I had a similar problem lasy year.
Try this:
As soon as the machine seems to be stalling, loosen the gas cap.
If the engine continues to run, clean the gas cap vent hole(s).

John Deere Model 445 garden tractor. Replaced plastic cam shaft gear, tried to start motor and it backfires through carb. I just removed front cover of engine to check the timing marks on both the camshaft...

Please check for the anti back fire solenoid in the front of the carb. Check whether the wiring to it is fine and if it is getting +12 V. If yes then you maybe required to replace the solenod.
However, if this doesn't resolve the issue then you would need to adjust manually so that decompresser works normally. Inspect the flywheel key as well, it may have sheared.

Check the carb filter and the make sure there is no sign of water in/around the carbeurater. Hope this helps... If it does please do not forget to accept the solution or post back for assistance.
