SOURCE: Kenmore dryer...How to remove toe panel to clean lint out.

Insert a putty knife into the seam where it meets the front panel about 2 inches in from each side. There is a small retainer clip that you will need top depress in order for the panel to release. If you go to searspartsdirect.com and enter your model number, you can find a helpful illustration under the "Cabinet" heading. The clips I mention are listed as item 46 just ot give you a perspective. I would also strongly recommend that you UNPLUG the dryer before cleaning the interior cabinet. There are live voltages present even with the dryer turned off. Particulary around the heating circuits. I hope you find this information helpful.

Dryers do what they are designed to do, Dry things. In the process everything inside the drying cylinder makes dust and airborne particulates called Lint. The Biggest bane for dryers is Lint accumulation. Clean the Lint filter screen. If it detaches from the dryer housing with screws remove them. Clean out what you see if you have a wet vacuum with a small hose carefully push this down into the opening and vacuum it ou. Another thing pull your dryer out from the wall disconnect the power and remove the vent hose. Vacuum inside the opening in the back of the dryer. You would be surprised how much lint accummulates here. Lastly check your vent hose for lint accumulation or blockage. If you find it blocked, disconnect the hose from the vent going outside and clean it all out with a vacuum . Put it all back together and run a load of clothes if you dont see a marked improvement in circulation and drying time, then either the blower fan is n't working properly or you have a burned out thermostat. If you have heat flowing turn it up to max heat and see how hot it really gets if on opening the dryer you feel extreme heat then it is either working right or the thermostat is not shutting off at the high limit. the Thermostat is a piece of Bimetallic metal that is extremely sensitive to certain temperatures. When they reach the preset heat limit they shut off allowing the heating elements not to burn out. A good investment is to keep dryer maintenance at regular intervals. They sell dryer cleaning brushes and Vacuum hose attachments for getting into the deep crevasses and nether regions of your dryer. Good luck and happy drying

Clothes not getting dry

sounds like perhaps you are losing your heating element...could be electronic, but it's most likely the actual element needs to be replaced...

Dryer gets hot on the outside of machine

Clean the lint out of the pipe that goes out side, also the grate on the outside, If that dosent do it take the back off and see where the lint comes out, take that apart and clean the lint out. I have had this problem before and just recently. The dryer has a saftey fuse, when the dryer gets too hot to shut off, thats why your clothes are not drying. 1st try the pipe that goes outside including the end(outside).

Dryer gets hot, turns but does not dry. I have cleaned the filter inside (big round one) and the small one on the front behind the door. No airflow coming out rear of unit.

Your outlet vent line is probably clogged with lint, etc. Usually it gets clogged either right at the dryer's outlet or at the outside port. First remove the flexible vent hose from the back of the dryer and clean away any lint or debris buildup, then check the rest of the line and outside port. Birds sometime like to build nests at the outside ports that are configured up high enough and the outside ports that are low will sometimes get toads/frogs in them. You can simply use a vacuum hose on anything you can't reach by hand.

The Air Flow warning keeps coming on and laundry will not completely dry, I always clean the lint vent and the vent to the outside of the house but still a problem

This really sounds like a block in the vent piping. Sometimes the exit point outside the house has a guard on it. Did you clean out the pipe running in the walls or across the ceiling? Maybe there is a lint ball inside the dryer where the hose hooks on or where the hose hooks onto the wall. Try running the dryer with the exhaust hose sticking out the door of your house and see if the warning still comes on. Maybe the hose is kinked?

The dryer isn't drying properly. It gets hot its not drying. Its a Kenmore Elite. Also the coil has been cleaned and its not catching lint.

Make sure the drum is turning and the blower is functioning. Vacuum out all air passages including the hose going to the outside vent. Remove the lint trap, and wash it in hot water and detergent to clean away fabric softener deposits from the screen. If the motor is not running, find out why.

Dries very slow lint is clean have to run and run to dry

make sure the outlet tubes are also clean, also rinse off the lint screen with hot water, softener will clog it and not allow propper air flow, the water wil bead up on the screen if this is true, just keep rinsing till water flows freely

DRYER TAKES LONGER TO DRY

you could have restricted airflow from the lint screen not being cleaned, a bad blower wheel, or a bad thermostat. take the vent hose off the back and check to see if the air flows out the dryer with good force, if so your vent is probably clogged or not open in the wall. the vent hose may also be picned off from puching the dryer back to far.

The dryer is overheating.

Fresh air is drawn in past the heating element into the drum out through the lint trap and exhausted outside the building. If the dryer protection systems are operating properly they will sense the over temperature and shut off power to the heating element via thermal switches. This will cause the elements to cycle on and off and reduce the drying ability.

Things to check.

First make sure you fill the dryer only about half full of clothes, usually the dryer capacity is around twice the washer capacity for this reason.

Second, make sure your lint trap and exhaust duct work from inside the dryer all the way outside are free from lint build-up. You should clean or have the dryer duct work cleaned either every year or two depending on the amount of drying you do.

Third, suspect is the dryer thermostat stuck in the on position. You may be able to test your drying temperatures by selecting (cold) fluff air setting, then the low setting and so on to see if that's working properly. If you can read electrical drawings, usually the manufacturer includes a diagram inside the control panel for service techs to refer to. You can test the flow of air out of the dryer by removing the hose from the exhaust, it should have a good volume of air when the dryer is running. After hooking the hose back to the exhaust duct work, check outside the building for the same air flow and don't forget to clean any outside flaps that keep the rodents out of the duct work.

Keep your lint low by not over drying your clothes. You will cut down on lint and prolong the life of your clothes! Dryers are one of the simplist appliances to figure out, unless they have complicated electronic control panels.

Good luck!

Cleaned vent hose, dryer still taking forever to dry clothes.

you have a family of squirrels living in the rest of the vent tube which is leading outside...check vent outside. I once had flying squirrels come into my house through the dryer vent! My dog had a kitten.
