As long as they are both registered to the same account. You can transfer them by going to 'Manage Your Kindle' or they will be archived, as long as you downloaded the books via Amazon.

The books are online and your chosen email address with password will load to a new machine.

When you buy a new kindle you register it to the same Amazon account as your old kindle then download the books to your new Kindle either from the Archive on the device or from the Manage Your Kindle page on Amazon where you can select each book and then the Kindle you wish the book to go to as each Kindle
