Put a little gas in the carb and try it. if it starts for a few seconds and dies it is starving for fuel. be sure fuel is going through the fuel lines to the carb. if so the carb itself may just need cleaned.

I have a John Deere JS30 self propelled lawn mower I had issues with it running for 15 minutes and then it stops running. Was low on oil. Added oil over the full line now it runs for 3 min and dies

Wayne, correct your oil level to full line, change your spark plug and try mower. If still acting up after a couple minutes, the Gas cap vent may be plugged, remove or loosen cap to see if mower will run longer and better. If no improvement, the carburetor is dirty and needs cleaned or rebuilt.

John Deere L130 riding lawn tractor will not start what do I do?

I'm assuming the motor will crank over, but not start. Remove the air intake cover & filter off the carburetor air intake. Do you smell gas? Is gas dripping out of the carburetor? If not, spray a couple shots of starting fluid or carburetor cleaner into the carburetor air intake throat. Close the choke & crank the engine. If it starts, & stalls, repeat the process. If it won't stay running, your carburetor float jet is gummed up & needs to be cleaned. Check & clean the spark plug. Does the spark plug fire when the engine is cranked? If no, then you have an ignition problem.

Doesn't act like it is getting gas. Cranks but wont start. Will start if I pour gas in carboretor but won't stay running. Changed gas filter and fuel pump.

Take the fuel line off of the carburetor and hold the line over a gas can. Crank the engine and watch for fuel to flow. Not just a dribble but but the flow should fill the fuel line and you should get about a coffee cup full in 15 or 20 seconds.

Alot of the X300 series mowers were shipped out of factory with interlock modules that failed often and some were on a fix-as-fail program. Not sure if this is whats wrong with yours but if it was in our shop its the first thing that gets replaced depending on you serial number. Its located just under the front side of dash with a few wires going to it.
