Question about Kenmore Dryers

1 Answer

Kenmore stackable dryer is spinning but not heating

Dryer doesn't heat. Support material suggests a blown fuse. Where is the fuse and what does it look like?

Stackable kenmore dryer wont heat

If the dryer runs, then the 240 volt supply should be okay. If the dryer doesn't run, then the L2 leg of voltage could be missing. You would need to check the voltage at the outlet using the third image below if this is the case. You should only make this live voltage check at the outlet if you are completely confident in your technical ability to safely measure it. If the outlet is bad, it will need to be repaired by an electrician.

You could have a blown thermal fuse in the dryer that will prevent it from heating. . Unplug the dryer and access this fuse by following the procedure in the first image. The thermal fuse should be on the back of the blower housing. I will likely have black and red wires attached to it. To check this fuse, pull the wires off (with the dryer still unplugged) and measure the resistance across the leads of the fuse. You should measure near zero ohms of resistance (continuity). If you measure infinite resistance (open) then the fuse is blown and will need to be replaced.

My dryer wont heat or spin

Heat: thermal fuse attached to the exhaust duct on the back panel of the gas dryer, usually surrounded by a black resin material situated in a housing made of white plastic, if there is a lot of lint built up it will cause it to blow
Spin: belt , motor, switch

Dryer portion on my stackable does not heat up.

Hello there:
please try these solutions and keep me informed on how this is going for you ok
Power from the house Check to see whether there's power getting to the dryer. Is it plugged in? Check for blown fuses or tripped circuit breakers--your dryer uses two fuses or circuit breakers. The dryer could tumble but not heat if only one of the two fuses is blown. If you have circuit breakers, one of the two circuit breakers can trip, even if the two for the dryer are connected. Heating element Often a dryer heating element burns out, but doesn't trip the circuit breaker or blow a fuse. The heating element is simply a long coil of special wire. You can check it for continuity with an ohm meter. No continuity means the element is bad and you need to replace it--electric heating elements aren't repairable. Thermal fuse On many dryers, there's a thermal fuse mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel. The fuse--which is about an inch long--is usually embedded in black resin and mounted in a white plastic housing. If the fuse has blown, you need to replace it. (You can't re-set it.) Wiring A common problem is for the main wiring connection from the house, at the dryer, to burn and break its connection. Because the dryer can still tumble with partial power, the connection may be only partially defective. You may need to replace both the power cord to the dryer and the terminal block inside the dryer that the wire is attached to.

Kenmore Stackable washer/dryer Model #11088752793, won't heat

Hi,
Either the elements have blown, or it could be a device called a thermal overload which has popped. (There may also be a loose wire which connects to the heating elements). Have your drier checked out by a good handyman or technician.
Best wishes,
