well i had the old screen and green light issue, but replaced the domed capacitors and fixed that.
on the circuit board, there is a black component(transistor) that is screwed to a metal plate(presuming a heat sink) that is blown. the component that has blown has actually lost the identification numbering. there are two of these and i need the numbers off them so i can get the correct one to replace it. Viewsonic will not give out this info and i will be buggered if i am going to spend out on their charges for something i can fix myself.

thanks for your interest in this problem

hi again, i just found out that the parts you gave me where not the ones i needed, on my board for the vx922 there are 2 heat sinks, one is L shaped and the other is not. on the one that is not there is a 6 pin component. it is screwed to the sink.
it is a 6 pin IC and the board ref number is U101. could you give me the number for this please.

The diode on the L shaped heat sink and next to the two 470uf x 25 volt capacitors is a TO-220 10amp x 100 volt rectifier diode. This is the one that more commonly fails, but they usually don't burn up too bad?
there are many different manufacturers that make these. SBR10100CT is one. Here is a link to one:
http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?lang=en&site=US&WT.mc_id=hp_go_button&KeyWords=SBR10100CTDI&x=24&y=20
The one on the straight heatsink is a 600volt power mosfet like this STF9NK60ZD:
http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?lang=en&site=US&KeyWords=497-4346-5-ND&x=11&y=10
If it was this one that blew up, you may have other issues.
Viewsonic wont give out that information because they have no clue what you are talking about !!

The vx922 if you have the FSP043 board has two rectifiers

One is a MBR10100ct like the one mentioned in the vx910 above

    The other is a SBL1045 10amp 45 volt rectifier diode like http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSear...

The main power mosfet is a FSDM0565R by Fairchild semiconductor

Hi I have a viewsonic VX922 which I have replaced the caps but on ressembly I can't remember which way round the four back light small plugs go. Can you please help. Thanks Peter

If the capacitors are polarised electrolytic type then they have a + and - leads. The - lead is marked on the capacitor with a stripe and a - sign. The circuit board where the capacitors are located will be marked with a - sign, make sure the capacitors are located correctly acording to the markings.
You need to put the capacitors with the correct values (capacitor) in the correct place on the circuit board.

If the capacitors are non polarised type the it does not matter which way they are inserted on the circuit board, but they have to be the correct value (capacitor).

Having trouble powering up my Viewsonic VX922. See the analog data, but have to power down for 20 sec (several times) to get the digital data on the screen

bob_loopeker, If you know that your pc is ok with different monitor then you will need to inspect the power supply board inside your VX922. All you need in the way of info is here on fixya!! All you need to do is read and make decision on what to do. Spend some time reading in my fixya profile or do "ctrl" key and click on "vx922 19" monitor" that is highlighted in light blue text above. May need new capacitors installed on unit's "switch-mode-power-supply" printed circuit board. hopre this helps. 12fixlouie

Green light flashing on and off and computer screen will turn on when feels like it

The flashing green power button is a well known electronic problem with this (and other) Viewsonic LCD monitors. There is YouTube video (do a search) showing how to disassemble the VX924 (very similar to the VX922) and find out whether the problem is related to blown capacitors. When I took my VX922 apart I discovered 6 bad capacitors out of a total of 7 on the power supply circuit board.

VX922 Viewsonic flashing

Hi Ken, I will be glad to help you.

The flashing light indicates a diagnostic state called protection.

The flashing light is not the problem, like temperature on human beings, the flashing light is just telling you that something is wrong.

When the Monitor goes on protection there are only two possible causes.

1 The internal circuits are jammed because of electrostatic charges accumulating on capacitors, or because of a wrong voltage read by the main chip on your monitor controller board. this started the protection circuit.

2 The protection circuit detected a wrong voltage or a broken contact, identified an internal fault and kicked in , starting the flashing light.

If you are in situation one, then the monitor will reset just unplugging power cord for one or two hours, sometimes even minutes.

If you are in situation 2 , then there is an internal fault.

Common faults that can occurr suddenly are a blown capacitor on power board, the inverter board powering up backlight lamp has blown, or a fault on main lcd controller board.

It may be best to contact Viewsonic about a service manual for this unit and ask to see if that sell any parts for this model.
