Question about Electrical Supplies

Open Question

I have a 2006 Surveyor 303 and the bathroom light, exhaust fan and back bedroom light don't work. The LED on the fuse box is lit up indicating an issue with the circuit. Any ideas?

SOURCE: Replace motor in Broan 678 bathroom fan

I ran into the same problem, Lowe's carries Broan exhaust vents. They had both a replacement motor for all generations of 678 fans for $18, and they also had the latest generation of the complete unit for $40. I bought the complete unit, which included the fan I needed. Just unbolted it from the new bracket and bolted it to the old one. The new light housing, trim piece, and lens also interchanged. The existing one was old and yellowed, so this made for a huge improvement. All done from in the living space as well.

How do I diagnose this lighting electrical problem?

Lighting cables have a tendency to run through the roof space linked on from one room to another. You need to access the roof space try and see where the supply from the fuse box comes in and trace the cables around the system. If you are not happy with household electrics then have someone who is take a look. I'm sure it can be traced to a junction box and probably a loose screw or damage from vermin or general deterioration. If the cabling is 1920's vintage then a lot were rubber coated long before PVC came along and the rubber rots away and problems occur. If the whole house has been rewired to modern standards then an insecure wire in a connector block is the most likely. Go careful and work safely.

I am not a electronic wizz but i believe the led's will light up but do not have enough resistance to cause the internal breakers to work.
I found this.

The pilot light won't stay lit

You may have a problem with a pressure differential in the house causing a draft down the chimney of the water heater and blowing out the pilot light. Bathroom or kitchen exhaust fan may be part of the problem.

I have a two wire (black white) ceiling wiring and the surveyor fan has four - black white, blue and green. How can I connect so that the wall unit can control speeds and light turns off and on without...

If you hook the black ceiling wire to the black and blue ones on the fan and the white to the white and green to the box it mounts to it will turn on and off with the wall switch and you'll have to use the switches on the fan to turn the light/fan on and off separately. Alternately, you could purchase a remote unit and install it according to the directions. Also, make sure you if you are replacing a light fixture with a fan that the box is strong enough to support it. Good luck.

Arc fault breaker trips sporadically

Are there any heaters anywhere in the circuit for this breaker? (ie: bathroom fan w/light and heater) If yes, I would suspect and inspect them first. Also, any type breaker will trip more easily if the electrical connection screws on the breaker are not tight enough...check to make sure that's not the case.
