What year was Cristofori studio piano serial 103703 built?

Hi Thayne.
Most of the piano-specialist websites that do piano aging and valuation have categories of piano type.
I looked through several but didn't find either the serial number or 'studio' type.
It may be that they classify it by another name such as 'upright' or similar.
Wikipeadia has an interesting article on the piano inventor/ manufacturer at
as Bart lived in Venice during the 17th to 18th century, I'm guessing your piano could be quite old.
Obviously it also depends on when and if manufacture stopped.
Can you upload a photo to the forum?
Be interesting to do further research.
Regards, Clive.

I have a piano made by Laffargue piano co ewyork. The serial number is 70805. The piano has Seaverns written on it. Can you tell me the age of my piano please?

(1905)!! Please Read On How To Tell How Old Your Piano Is !! I Learned This From Grandma !!
Piano serial numbers usually have five to seven digits, but may have fewer or more, depending on the manufacturer and age of your piano. Serial numbers may also include a letter as well.
Here are the TOP FIVE places to locate the serial number of your spinet, console, or upright piano:
Serial number locations are found:
1) On the piano's cast iron plate. After lifting up the lid, look along the top front area of the plate. The serial number may be to the right or the left, or in the middle.

2) Under the opened lid on the ledge, stamped on a little plaque, to the right or to the left.

3) Stamped on the back of the piano; near the top of the wood frame.

4) Printed on one of the hammers, found on either end of the piano (newer or imported pianos).

5) Printed on one the keys - behind the nameboard, inside the piano (newer or imported pianos)

I have and antique Kimball serial number is 197287 trying to find out the value of it

Kimball piano values vary based on age and condition; as of 2015, many uprights sell for $10,000 or more. Kimball is a well-known brand, and several of its antique pianos are considered highly collectible.
The Kimball Piano Company, based in Chicago, was one of the largest piano manufacturers in the world. At the turn of the century, Kimball built approximately 20,000 pianos annually. Kimball produced pianos under different brand names such as Hinze, Dunbar, Whitney and Harrison. Styles were influenced by Victorian, Greek Revival and Arts and Crafts architecture, and upright models were often available as player pianos. Kimball was sold to the Jasper American Corporation in 1959, and its pianos were discontinued in 1996.

I have a rosewood parlor grand upright piano made by Ernest Gabler and Brother serial #34748, manufactured for WJ Dyer and Bro of Minneapolis. Can you shed any light of the year of its manufacture?

Remove the middle C key to see date of manufacture written in pencil. May also show repairs and tuning dates.

In 1883, Emil & Ernest Gabler went into partnership to form the hugely successful company of 'Ernest Gabler & Brother'. During the 19th Century, Gabler was known for building extravagant and expensive pianos, including square grands and uprights. By the turn-of-the-century, the company was fairly successful and was building a complete line of baby grands and player pianos as well. In the early 20th Century, the firm also manufactured Faber and Baus brand pianos. All Gabler pianos we have restored in our shop have been of superior quality. Gabler went out of business in about 1932 due to the Great Depression.

I have a ronisch upright piano made in Germany serial no 48906 how old is it and would you know a price

cant help with the serial number

if tuned casing and keys and strikers are in good condition
if buying from a commercial piano seller price 5 year guarantee
7000 pounds UK
$6000 AU

The Ronisch piano has long been a favourite among piano teachers due to its fine, clear tone and highly consistent manufactured quality. Anyone looking to get a Ronisch is advised to look for instruments made before the second World War, as the original factory in Dresden, Germany was destroyed by allied planes in the latter stages of the war.
All of the manufacturing equipment was lost.
The factory was re-established in Leipzig after the war, but has never manufactured pianos of the same tonal beauty as did the original.

Carl Ronisch, was one of the foremost pioneers of piano-building in his time. He was first to use a full cast-iron plate in the piano, employing five struts and completely covering the wrest-plank (pin block), which for the first time, allowed a high-tension scale.
This is considered the beginning of the use of full cast-metal plates and is today, standard in the industry.

Ronisch instruments have won gold medals in the world exhibitions in Sydney, Amsterdam, Melbourne, Chicago and Paris.

Netzow Piano Co. Brand Name: Netzow Piano Co. Parent company: Netzow Piano Co. Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin Serial Numbers Available: yes First date listed: 1904 Last date listed: 1931 Other brands:

Hi Robyn:
serial 10305
This was one of the original pianos made by this company in 1904. The serial number is the determining factor in telling a piano's age.

The worth rests on the piano's viability, configuration, and age.

Old uprights are generally worth little, especially if they are not serviceable. The furniture value is secondary.

If your piano is in perfect condition, inside and out, the value would top out around 200.00, USD.

What you have there is a typical upright piano, which more than likely has more furniture value than instrument value.

Age is not good in the piano world and pianos deteriorate year by year whether they are played or not.

Are you using this piece as furniture, or instrument?

We bought this upright piano for our daughter to learn on but I can't seem to find any info on it. Serial number 23930. Any info would be fabulous. Thank you.

Remove the front of the piano. Remove the middle C key complete from it mounting pin. You may find the production date and its full service history written in pencil on the side of that key. A piano tuner told me this after I told him that I had removed all the keys to clean them and I was surprised to see the whole history. It said it was standard practice.
