Sunlite bike cable lock. I opened the lock and now cant put the male end back into the lock because I forgot the combination

Is it a key lock? combination with a dial or combination with levers?

You have to try all the combinations. Start with 1111, then 1112,1113,and so on.

You could spend hours trying every combination, or cut the lock off and buy a new one.

We just got a sunlite lock and figured it out. After it is unlocked with 0000 and the lock opened, the end spins to a "set" position. Set the numbers you want, spin the end back, and lock will be set to those numbers.

Krypto has the resetting of the combination lock on their website (under Maintenance) but if you cannot unlock it in the first place you can not reset the combination. You have to know the old combination to get it open.

My new lock didn't come with any instuctions. I followed the link above and located the "bike locks" heading. I found that the question:

which is not the cryptoflex 1218 but is compatible anyway.

dont hurt your fingers trying to depress the nodules as the diagram says though. to my chagrin i discovered that they will turn easily if you just push them around into place.

here are the instructions:

To set your own combination
Your new lock is preset to open at 0-0-0-5 at the factory.
1. Open the lock by aligning the opening combination
number to the Guide Points and pull out the Lock
Post. (Figure 1)
2. Push down the two Reset Buttons simultaneously
with thumb and forefinger, and turn counterclockwise
until it comes to a stop. (Figure 2)
3.You are now ready to turn the dials to set your
secret combination, such as a phone number, birthday,
etc.
4. After setting your secret combination, turn the
two Reset Buttons again by Thumb and Forefinger
clockwise until it comes to a stop and back to its
original position.
5. Verify your new combination before using your
lock. Insert the Lock Post all the way into the Locking
Port but do not turn the dials. Pull out the Lock Post.
Your lock is ready to use.
6.The reset operation is now complete. Repeat
steps 1-5 anytime you wish to change your secret
combination.

I have the same issue. I just bought a bike and dug out my old bike lock from college. Obviously the codes I'd being using now are not what I programmed my bike lock originally with. Any suggestions??
I've been trying to listen to the lock when I rotate the numbers and crack the code. Not a fun task.

Try putting a lot of pressure as to open the lock on either end of the coupling. Turn the numbered cogs one by one feeling for the one that has the most resistance. The one with the most resistance is the one that is keeping it locked. Move this one forward or back until you can no longer feel resistance. Keep doing this for all the cogs. This may take some time.
After (if) you get it apart, look down the barrel as you move the numbers to find where the cogs are aligned as to put the lock back together with out locking it; i.e. the barrel is free of cogs. This should be all the same number, like 5. Once you have this number and the barrel free of cogs, there should be a switch at the end of the numbered barrel that you can flip up and over to the other side of the opening. Flip the switch, choose a new number that you can remember, and flip it back. This should be your new combination number. The lock should work now.

First get some teflon thread tape, for applying 2 or 3 tightly wrapped turns around the male threaded quick-disconnect adapters, threaded end on your air hose and compressor before installation.
Note: remember that the female quick-disconnect adapter is also a check valve that will only release air when a male quick-disconnect adapter is inserted, i.e. do not install a  male quick-disconnect adapter directly to an air compressor outlet.
Note 2:Always remember to wear approved eye protection when operating air tools.
Start by installing the female quick-disconnect adapters on a male threaded end of the air hose and on to the outlet port on the air compressor tighten the connections with two open end wrench's. Then install the male quick-disconnect adapters to the other end of the hose, blow-gun tool, and the air chuck tool, (tighten as described above). The other implements in the kit (wire brush attachment, inflation needle, etc...) can be threaded in to the outlet port of the blow-gun as needed.
The operation of connecting  quick-disconnects are as follows: Grasp the tool in one hand, and with the other hand grasp the air line near the end leaving the thumb and fore finger free to operate the spring loaded outer release cylinder on the female quick-disconnect by pulling back on it. With the cylinder pulled back, insert the male quick-disconnect adapter in to the female quick-disconnect adapter, then release the thumb and fore finger from the outter release cylinder, thus locking the two together. check to be sure the lock has engaged by lightly pulling at the tool. Reversing this process will disengage the tool from the air line.
