Timer isn't working and isn't heating up - Dryers

there is a cycling thermostat in line with the high limit thermostat and timer circuit,on timed dry its disabled and the timer will run no matter what,on any sensor dry setting it uses the heat of the element to heat this cycling thermostat to move the timer as the clothes get drier as the heating element heats the timer doesn't move,when the heater cycles off from the high limit thermostat then timer moves again,you need to find out if its a bad heating element,thermal fuse or possibly even a circuit breaker in the homes electrical panel tripped out on one of the 2 phases that gives you the 240 volts required to operate the dryer element,the breaker may not show its tripped,so shut it off and back on and try this first

Thanks for using FixYa. If the cycle doesn't complete, then the first thing that should be checked is the Timer and then the heating element. Timers don't often fail. But if every other part of the dishwasher seems to be working properly and the timer knob seems to be stuck in one place--doing one function continuously--the timer may be at fault. Dishwasher timers can't be repaired. If yours is defective, replace it. Many dishwashers heat the wash and/or rinse water to a higher temperature, as the cycle calls for it. In these cycles, the dishwasher pauses after it has filled with water, waiting for the water to reach the pre-set temperature. What happens next depends, as follows: On some units, the pause is timed and the unit continues after the allotted time. On others, the cycle can't continue until the water reaches the higher temperature. If you have this type of dishwasher and the water isn't being heated (say, because of a problem with the heating element or thermostat), after the unit stops at the heating cycle, it never continues. When you repair the heating-system problem, the "cycle problem" is fixed too. Please accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Most of the time this usually turns out to be a timer problem but i will post you some information on things that will need to be checked also ok?

If you are setting the knob to begin a cycle AND the drum turns when you start it AND the timer knob does not advance, the timer is likely defective.

Some dryers with truly automatic cycles (using moisture or temperature sensors) will not advance the timer if there is a no-heat condition due to a bad thermostat or heating element. This would show as the dryer tumbling a load forever and the clothes are cold and wet when checked.

If the dryer will not do anything at all AND the timer knob does not advance, check the power (circuit breaker/fuse), then the dryer door switch. When the door switch is defective or the door isn't fully closing, it stops everything, period. There is a thermal fuse on some machines that will also cause this problem.

when on auto the heat comes on and then shuts off and then the timer advances,when the heat comes back on the timer stops advancing,when on time dry the timer will advance no matter what's happening with the heat.next time send the brand name and model number so i can help you better,if it's gas you could have bad gas coils,you'll have heat for like the first 15 to 30 minutes then when the coils get hot they fail and no heat until they cool down,also if the vent line and the duct that the lint filter goes into hasn't been cleaned out the heat will shut down and if that happens the timer isn't gonna move.check that out and let me know what you find and send the brand and model number.

Although it does sounds like the switch, you might want to check the heating element to make sure that isn't open. That could cause the unit not to heat or the switch to advance (but unlikely)

what exactly is it doing? need more information than prime message and blinking light.? please give me more info. [email protected].

Most dryers have two circuits. It sounds like one of these has a blown fuse. Check the breaker/fuse box and make sure the breaker isn't tripped or the fuse isn't blown.

Hi, If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heatingthe most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad.
