That sounds like fuel starvation to or from the carburetor. Enough fuel to start it, but not maintain it running.
Where is the grinding sound coming from??? Could be your hydrostatic transmission. When one side goes the other will follow... Time for a new mower... Mine lasted 3 years...
I have a 2014 HUSQVARNA RZ5424 that I just changed the blades on for the first time now 2017. I got new gator blades because of all the good reviews on them. They are about as good as a screen door on a submarine at 300 feet deep. There the same length as the original blades but leaves two rows of uncut grass about a inch wide regardless of how you try to cut it. Only 240 hours on mower, deck clean ,spindles kept greased . Went back to new Husquvarna blades like the ones made for it. PROBLEM SOLVED. HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY. REL.
