SOURCE: Dishwasher doesn't stor filling

If the dishwasher's water flow doesn't automatically shut off, the float switch is faulty or the timer is stuck on "Fill" or the water inlet valve is stuck open. To test the float switch, you'll need an inexpensive volt-ohm meter (or multi-tester). 1) Unplug the dishwasher. 2) Reach into the cabinet and lift the dome-shaped plastic float switch. If it doesn't lift, remove the plastic top from the stem, scrub the stem clean, and then replace the dome. If it moves up and down freely, go on to step 3. 3) Note which wires are attached to the float switch's terminals and, using small pieces of tape, label them for later reference. 4) Set the volt-ohm meter's dial to Rx100 and touch the two probes to the terminals. When you lift the float, the tester's needle should show an infinity reading and, when you let the float drop, the needle should show 0. If it doesn't, the switch is broken and will need replacement. Unscrew it from the tub and replace it.

f4 is a drain error, machine is still sesing water has not pumped out after 4 minutes of draining
1st check and see if water is still in bottom of machine if so check for blockeges under sink where drain hose cnnects to drain pipe.
if water has drained out you may have an water sensor fault or worst case an electronic control board fault
to reset machine hold the start button in for at least 3 seconds and it should do a drain and stop

SOURCE: My admiral capacity plus washer

I had this happen last year to mine. Check the hose that goes to water level adjustment switch. It may have a hole or crack in it. It may be small and hard to find but if there are any leaks in this hose the switch cannot sense the water level because it works on pressure through the hose to the diaphragm on the switch. You will need to remove the top panel of the washer to access this. I was able to replace the hose with some I had on hand. Saved me big $$$!

Not finishing cycle

Is it draining out the water?? Dishwashers fill, spray, and drain more than several times during a cycle. After starting a cycle, let the unit fill, start spraying, and then cancel the cycle--listen for the drain pump activating and pumping out the water. If water is not being drained properly(within a certain time limit), the unit will error code out and stop. Also, make sure the filter is clear--if it gets clogged with "muck", enough water won't be sprayed onto the dishes properly, the pump will require too much energy to try to pump water, the control will sense this and shut down the unit to protect it.

Switch dishwasher on and starts up ok but when it comes to pumping water in it stops and does not do anything else.

Hello

Investigate these five areas if your dishwasher won't fill with water:

As water is filling your dishwasher, a float rises along with it. When the float reaches a predetermined level, it shuts off the flow of water, thereby preventing a leak. Sometimes the float can get stuck in the wrong position in your dishwasher, and it can prevent your dishwasher from filling. Check your float assembly. Replace it if you need to.

The water that fills your dishwasher lifts the float, and when it reaches a certain level, it acts as a trigger for the float switch. The float triggers the float switch to shut off, thereby shutting off the flow of water into the dishwasher. A defective switch may interfere with your dishwasher's filling ability.

Your dishwasher may not be filling with water simply because the water valve's filter screens are dirty and debris-filled. Gain access to your water inlet valve and try cleaning it out. This might be enough to solve the problem. You can learn how to access your water inlet valve in the replace a dishwasher water inlet valve section.

Alternatively, your water inlet valve could be defective altogether. That could be the reason your dishwasher is not filling. Test it for continuity. If it is not functioning as it should, replace it.

Your dishwasher's drain valve is regulated by a drain solenoid. If the solenoid is malfunctioning, it may not allow the drain valve to funtion properly, which in turn could be the reason your dishwasher is not filling with water. Investigate your drain valve and test the solenoid. If the solenoid is faulty, replace it.

Whirlpool dishwasher will not fill with water

turn the valves to the left if there the screw in type or parraell if the quick open type the first thing a dishwasher does when you start it is drain for a few minutes then stops then fills with hot water run the water as hot at the sink as you can before starting the washer there is a float in the tub that can shut the water valve off if its not seated on the safety switch after the drain at the start of cycles stops then you should hear the water valve open and start the fill let me know and we will go from there

Machine won't stop filling

Sounds like your solinoid valve needs replacing. It cuts the water off when it has reached the right level.
