Top on clk430 wont go up or down

Yesterday i had the cloth replaced on my 2000 clk 430. the guy ran the top with the battery so much the battery lost it's charge. (I specifically asked them to run the motor when running the top to save the battery so it would not die, but they did anyway). by the time he was done the trunk would only open with the mechanical key but we fixed that by following the directions in the manual but now the top wont go up or down except manually. the button you pull up and push down for the top stayed lit when we tried to use it. we put the top up manually and will leave it that way for a week or so to allow the new cloth to stretch and take form. i am hoping this is temporary and that closing it manually reset it like it did for the trunk. we checked all the fuses and they are good. any ideas? thanks
