I need a diagram to show me where and how to install the front belt< I think the motor belt) on my Hoover Windtunnel, self propelled Model U6634-900 series x12-0 60HZ 120 V

Most vacuums are pretty well the same belt set-up...remove the metal plate covering the rotating floor brush and pull it out...place new belt over motor pulley and and stretch other end over rotating floor brush in the space provided for it....pull and place ends into slots on the sides....if the belt is not straight flip the brush the other way...you will figure it out. Just be sure to buy the right belt!!!

Dennis

The main belt on my hoover model u6634-900 windtunnel keeps comming off the motor shaft

  • A list of things to check (unplug vacuum FIRST):
    1. All contact surfaces for belt are clean of build up, that can push belt in one direction
    2. Brush roller is not flip end for end (the pulley on the motor shaft should line up straight with the worn area of the brush roller).
    3. The guard on the bottom (covering the belt and brush sides) is clean and free of build up.
    4. The ends of the brush roller are free of build up and the bushings that slide in the end are inserted in the correct direction, this can cause the brush roller to set at an angle and cause the belt to slide in one direction.
    5. You have the correct replacement belt, I have found the wrong belt placed in the packaging for my vacuum at the factory once before (check manufacturers website).
    6. If the brush roller is extremely worn, it could be time to replace but this is very unlikely.
    7. Rotate the motor shaft by hand and see if there is any wobble, the pulley could be on crooked or bearing has failed causing slop in the motor shaft.

How do I change the belt on a hoover u4537-930

Flip the vacuum over and UNPLUG THE UNIT. Remove the screws holding the cover over the rotating brush. Pull the brush straight down (there will be tension from the belt). Slide the belt off the brush and the motor pulley. Installation is the reversal of installation.

I have a 20 yr old upright U4689-910 with a broken agitator belt. I have a replacement belt. I have removed the L shaped plate on the bottom of the vac. It is not clear to me how to replace the belt at...

If it is like the older hoover models you need toDISCONNECT FROM MAINS FIRST then
lift out the roller with the brushes on it, grip firmly at both ends and pull away from body of hoover, loop the belt over it and push it back in. Make sure you loop belt over the pulley the correct way or the brushes will rotate in the wrong direction! (there should be a diagram to show that on the hoover)

I hope I have been of help but please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions.

I appreciate your vote if you appreciate my reply and remember, even if you don't vote for me a please and thank you goes a long way

I have a hoover elite 200 it did not have a belt on it when i got it and i cant find the drive shaft.

You must remove the lid of the vac and find the pulley end of the brush. directly behind it one hand length you will see a small silver shaft. If the shaft is other than silver it is coated with burned rubber. or rust and dirt.
Clean off the burned rubber polishing the shaft with wet dry sandpaper . Then rotate by hand to test for any blockage in the motor fan. Also rotate the brush roll to see that it spins freely. Using a genuine hoover ELITE belt wrap the belt around the motor shaft and brush roll and use the brush to stretch the belt forward as you lower the brush into place. Once seated , rotate the brush again to see that the belt is turning, then reinstall the lid. Do not pick up anything larger than your fingernail or you will blow the fan on this unit.

Brush roller does not rotate around

If the rotating brush doesn't turn, then it's almost a certianty that the belt (which connects the rotating brush to the motor pulley of the vacuum) is either horribly stretched or just plain broken. Either way, it needs to be replaced. The correct Hoover belt part # for your vacuum is 38528040 (changed from the original part number of 38528027). This is a very common Hoover belt, but would recommend your best source as being a local, independently-owned vacuum dealer dealer (as opposed to a deprtment / big box store, both of which carry very limited belts).

Hoover wind tunnel cyclonic U5780900 1 year old. brush will not turn. too much slack in vbelt when in carpet position. Belt is good

Well, the V belt is normally fairly slack until the handle is dropped below 45 degrees, which is when the belt tensioner assembly drops into place. If turning the brushroll by hand when the vacuum is in this position fails to rotate the self propel pulley, the tensioner is not functioning properly and will need to be replaced.
Also ensure that the brushroll can spin freely by hand, as these have a tendency to melt at the ends and seize the brushroll. I have also seen the groove that the v belt fits into melt itself out of round, which can cause the same symptom as you're describing.
Keep in mind as well that while the rubber belt may appear to be ok, it does have to be replaced every 3-6 months whether it breaks or not. Even though it hasn't broken, if you were to hold it up against a new belt, you would see that the old one has stretched significantly: which can decrease the machine's ability to rotate the self-propel transmission pulley and, in turn; the brushroll.

Feel free to contact me with any further questions.

Hoover Wind Tunnel V-Belt no longer turns brush

that is the correct belt what you dont see is a tension pulley that when the handle is released pushes on top of that belt giving it the tension it needs. try replacing the other belt, even if it isnt broken it could easily be stretched out ( all belts of that type should be replaced every year - even if you didnt use the machine at all ). if that doesnt work that tension pulley could be damaged you would need to take the bottom of the machine apart to fix that.

Brushes do not rotate

Sounds as though your drive belt has come off. Or you have an object stopping the brushes from rotating.
